Think about this for a minute...

Our skeletons don't grow as we become overweight or obese.

Those same bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues all become more stressed with every extra kilo our bodies carry.

🙋🏻‍♀️ Shared my first personal post with you all about me

From then I have continued my journey to lose more weight but more specifically body fat. Though since setting that goal I have hit a few hurdles and set backs, which many of us come across because life happens and it’s important to remember that through your health journey.

Be consistent. There are a lot of people who think there is no point in exercising if you are only available to do it once a week or you can only cook once a week, that’s where they are wrong, consistency is what is important. Something is always better than nothing, we all need to start somewhere and consistency is key 🔑

I don’t know about anyone else’s experience but boy the last 8 months have thrown challenges at me! A few major ones for me have been major PCOS flare up, days of giving into every single craving, grieving over a family loss, pinched back nerve, plateau (for 7 weeks!), torn ligament, stitches, broken toe, new stages of parenting and a FIFO partner. It has been a tough one but I did the best I could when I could to stay on track to reach my goal. I may have trained 6 days one week and 2 the next, cooked one night and got Nandos or frozen meals for the next 5 nights and trust me it would have been so much easier to just stop cooking home cooked meals for myself (as most kids, my two eat differently to me) and I definitely could have stopped training (especially on the hard days) but no matter what by the end of the week I made sure I exercised at least twice that week and cooked for myself 2 meals and anymore was a bonus, because life happens and things get hard. I believe being consistent with at least 2 days a week really helped me push through to still be able to reach my goals even with the setbacks and challenges that I had to work through. It wasn’t all hard days/weeks though and you better believe on those good weeks I smashed out my training sessions, stuck to my nutrition program and kept pushing towards my goals.

Consistency, big or small, is a game changer 💙

Since October 2023 I have lost a total of 27.1kg & 108cm and would like to continue to lose a little more cms by October 2024 🙌🏻

It is important we show the next generation of kids the benefits of having a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle that includes physical activity and vegetables/fruits should never be seen as a punishment or chore and it’s our responsibility to make sure that is not the case.

Teach them healthy habits early so they can grow up having a healthy relationship with food and exercise 💪🏻

I absolutely love when Jess brings in her son and he joins in. Even if it is in the most inconvenient way for Jess 😂

Zucchini Fritters 🍳

Ingredients:

2 Zucchini (small, grated)
1 White Potato (medium, peeled and grated)
1 Brown Onion (medium, finely sliced)
2 Eggs
1/4 cup Oat Flour
2 tbsp Ground Flax Seed
½ tsp Sea Salt
Black Pepper (to taste)
2 tbsp Avocado Oil

Instructions:

• Combine all ingredients, except the avocado oil, into a large bowl and mix well.

• Heat half of the avocado oil in a large pan over medium heat. Scoop enough of the zucchini mixture to create 3- to 4-inch wide fritters in the pan. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes per side and transfer to a plate lined with a paper towel.

• Taste the first batch and adjust seasoning accordingly. If the fritters are falling apart, add an extra tablespoon of oat flour at a time. Continue until the mixture is used up and add more avocado oil to the pan between batches if needed.

• Let cool slightly before serving and enjoy! 😋
