Yesterday, March 19th 2023, 1 year and 9 days since Ben finished chemotherapy, a week and 2 days since receiving another clean bill of health, we joined for their walk down at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast.
We joined fellow lymphoma warriors, families, friends, lymphoma nurses etc to walk a 4 stretch and raise funds and awareness for lymphoma based cancers.
It was an incredible day, a day filled with stories, conversations, laughter and updates on the absolutely critical work that Lymphoma Australia is doing and the strides they are making to support the Lymphoma community.
Words cannot describe what this organisation and individuals all touched by lymphoma mean to us not only as a racing team but on a personal level too. We cannot wait to continue supporting and raising awareness for a cause so near and dear to us 💚
- Benjamin & Jessica
Welcome to our first event of 2023!
Lymphoma Australia is hosting its annual Legs Out For Lymphoma Walk on the Gold Coast this Sunday! We are going to be there getting our legs out and raising awareness for this incredible organisation!
If you’d like to join our team or even donate whatever you can, the link is in our stories and in our bio!
Let’s support our lymphoma warriors and the incredible people behind Lymphoma Australia!
On December 22nd Longland Family Racing had to say a heart shattering goodbye to our team mascot and stripey best friend, Oliver.
He will forever remain a part of everything we do and we will always remember our sweet boy.
Ben and I are heartbroken. It was too soon but our boy loved hard and loved big. He fixed broken hearts and created laughter and joy all around him.
We love you, Ollie 💕
Merry Christmas everyone!
We hope you’ve all had a beautiful day with your loved ones 🎄
Race 2 saw us get a DNF due to our starter motor finally giving up the ghost on us. Cameron our mechanic and Ben have worked hard to get a new starter motor into the kart so we will be back on track tomorrow morning for race 3!
Race 1 saw us finish second in class which is always a good result!
Ben felt the kart was running smooth, tyre pressures were on point and our crew is excited to see what comes from the weekend!!
Qualifying is done and dusted and we’re getting ready to head out for race 1 of our final race weekend for 2022!
We replaced a valve stem on the front left tyre and gave our fuel system a once over but we are now ready to get on track and have some fun!!
Here we go….
Tonight Ben finally got to meet one of our fellow Racing With Autism Australia racers, Daniel and his dad David! It’s been a long awaited meeting and every second of it is deeply cherished. We love when we get to meet fellow RWAA members and create memories with them!
Daniel and David, thank you for your hospitality and for spending an evening with Ben while he’s in Sydney for work. I can’t wait until I can come down and meet you both too.
- Jess
Tonight the most amazing thing happened! Benjamin proposed to our team manager Jessica. Massive thanks to the beautiful Jade from the most incredible moment of my life was captured on film.
Here’s to the next chapter 💍💕
We are incredibly thankful to have been a part of todays morning tea and even more thankful to everyone who came and participated and helped to raise funds for Lymphoma Australia.
Here’s hoping we can see this event return next September on a bigger scale!!
Weekend review
Race 4 was smooth all around without too much excitement to report. We’re looking forward to a solid finish in race 5 to round out the weekend.
Race 3 saw Ben breaking a PB which we’re all excited about. Our machine is fast and responsive as is our driver!
Bring on races 4 and 5!!
Race 2 of this weekend saw us DNS with the clutch seizing, the nut and washer came off and the clutch moved causing the clutch to melt the chain protector. However thanks to some trackside mechanics we will be out for the next race 🏁
Race day recap -
• We broke a rear sprocket and threw a chain in qualifying.
• The rear bar broke during race 1 this afternoon but thanks to one of the club members QLD Superkart Club it has been welded back together.
• Post welding Ben picked up the rear bar and burned his hand in the process. We have carried out appropriate first aid and he will be racing again tomorrow.
Now it’s time for a night of rest in preparation for tomorrows races
We ended up with a DNF in qualifying due to throwing a chain and a sprocket. Ben and the crew are working hard to fix the issues and get back on track for race one this afternoon.
After a mercy dash to get a new hub we are hitting the track for qualifying. The previous category left some oil on the track which has been cleaned up but does pose risks to us so it should be an interesting quali 🏁
Practice session 2 here we come!!!
The bright green livery is certainly standing out today 💚
Practice session saw us off to a great start for the day with consistent lap times across the board.
We can’t wait to see what happens next
Another race weekend is here!!
Ben is ready to go out on track for practice one while I’m stuck at home recovering from a sore back.
The sun is shining, the kart is ready and we’ll be bringing you all along for the ride throughout the weekend!

Happy Cat Fathers Day to our driver and team principle, Ben!
This little stripey boy was a godsend during chemo and radiation. He kept us laughing and comforted throughout it all.
Pets are so special when going through any medical issues or rough times. Our Oliver has done more for us both than he could ever imagine. We’re thankful for you, little man.

Racing into Lymphoma Awareness Month like Ben racing around QR!
Every year 6900 Australians are diagnosed with a lymphoma based cancer.
So jump on board, start the conversation and let’s try and fund a brand new lymphoma nurse for
💚
What’s your legacy for Lymphoma?
Jess is a partner and key support person and is sharing her story to help raise awareness of lymphoma. Lymphoma Australia not only provides information and support for patients, but carers and loved ones too.
"Each year 6,900 Australians are diagnosed with a Lymphoma based cancer.
"In late 2021 my partner Ben joined that statistic."
"We went on our first date on August 28th 2021. Within two weeks, Ben had undergone major surgery and been given a cancer diagnosis. When the doctor said the words ‘Stage 3 Advanced Hodgkin Lymphoma’ it felt as though our world had tilted on it’s axis."
"A single look said it all though, we were going to get through this. We were going to fight this cancer as a team. We weren’t going to let it destroy us or take him away when he still had so much left to live for. He was 29 at the time, life has really only just begun."
"I remember finding Lymphoma Australia, ordering pins and bracelets, reading their articles and finding comfort in their extensive knowledge.
"If it wasn’t for leaning on different resources from Lymphoma Australia to gain some sort of knowledge on what was going on, I don’t think I could have coped too well. Or maybe even at all."
"This Lymphoma Awareness Month, my goal is to leave a legacy of love, positivity and knowledge."

Thank you AMRS - Australian Motor Racing Series and Queensland Raceway for putting on a cracker weekend for everyone 🏁💚
1 year ago on this day Benjamin broke his PB here at QR. Today he broke it again, bringing home a 1.279 in race 3 for this weekend!
