The past few years have been tough. In one way or another we have all been impacted by the pandemic and the global pressures it’s created.
Check in with those around you and take a moment to brush up on where to seek support.

📣 Fellow GILLIESTON ISLAND Residents:
While we’re marooned until the flood waters subside we just wanted to make you aware of the following:

⭐️We are still up and running via Telehealth (only taking appointments via DM at the moment).

⭐️We would also like to make ourselves available to assist our locals:

✨We can assist with manual handling and mobility (safe transfers, assistance with self care etc) so please reach out if you or someone you know needs assistance to get up and moving (especially if you’re unable to receive assistance from your usual Carers and Allied Health Professionals at the moment).

✨We’re more than happy to call in for welfare checks and can provide some assistance for short term pain/injury management until you’re able to get to your usual treatments.

✨We’ve heard about a few support workers and carers who have found themselves stuck here and have been struggling without any respite. Please reach out if we can help to lessen the load or bring you any supplies if you’re unable to leave your clients.

Who else found getting back into the gym difficult after “lockdown life”?
We found it soooo hard to get back into the swing of things after losing our routine and consistency. So, after talking about it for ages we bit the bullet and started putting together our own home gym. No excuses about lack of time or motivation to go to the gym anymore (yes even professionals struggle with excuses from time to time). We’re also still loving getting outdoors in our local area for a run or a walk. It’s interesting to reflect on some of the positives that have come out of the pandemic, even if they’re a little harder to see at times.

Today as part of Men’s Health Week, we’re shining a light on mental health.
With statistics this high, chances are that yourself or someone you know has or is going through some form of mental health challenge. Take a moment to check in with yourself and those around you.
Making a few healthy changes can go a long way, but don’t forget to reach out for support when you feel you need it. Australia is fortunate to have many free mental health resources available. Your GP is also a great support and can put together a comprehensive mental health care plan (anyone can get one) where you may be eligible for up to 10 psychology sessions with a Medicare rebate. Exercise Physiologists are also trained in treating and managing mental health challenges through the use of exercise prescription, so feel free to reach out to us for a chat about how we can support you!
