Happy ! 👊🏽
Got paddocks like this one
Sick of bouncing round the cab when checking stock and not growing grass having to feed out all the time.
Now is the time to get them sprayed out and ploughed up.
Don’t buy more land at these record high prices to run more stock improve what you have for a fraction of the price.
Growing good grass and clover will fatten stock faster and the clover will return nitrogen to the soil.

Well spring is here and it’s looking like a cracker. With the bom prediction of being dry later in the year don’t waste your spring feed. Signs of it drying up in Queensland and nsw so hay could be worth a lot of money next year.
We offer hay and silage making both round and square.
We also offer summer crop sowing, tillage and spraying. Get in contact now as it’s going to be a busy season. 0428077558
What a start to the 2023 Sowing season. Keep the moisture coming ☔️
Few videos of today thanks Connor for the footage
Introducing the vaderstad rapid 6m airseeder.
This bit of kit is proving in its early stages to be a cut above the rest. Fitted with system discs, levelling boards and finger harrows to eradicate pug marks and chop up clody ground. With its many wheels on the back to carry the weight and pack the ground back down to retain moisture and seed to soil contact. Seeds are sown at 125mm spacing and fertiliser 62.5mm to the side and below the seed. This means you won’t burn the seed and the roots go down chasing the nutrients. Any more info get in touch you have to see it to believe it.
50mm of rain from sowing to cutting forage sorghum. Producing just under 10t to the ha not bad for dry land and bu**er all rain. Thanks to Kelly Angus we hope the cows/bulls like it.
Upper Goulburn Ag would like to thank all our customers for there support in 2022. We have nearly wrapped up hay making 🥳 It has all happened at once this year making for some big days. Special thanks again to our crew for putting in the long hours when required. We now look into 2023 autumn ground prep and sowing. If you want to improve some pastures get in touch now so you don’t miss out.
It’s still very wet and not looking like drying up in the near future.
Best options
1. Silage is number one in my opinion to maximise any quality left in this growing year. If you can get a window cut and wrap it up ASAP
2. Hay will be hard to get unless the weather turns around dramatically. You might get it in a bale by tedding it a few times but all this does when it’s dry is knock all the leaf off and you end up with stalks and the quality will just be like straw.
3. Header tailings is baling up the straw from behind a Headder it has wheat/barley grain in the straw which give the stock some extra protein.
At this stage this is the cheapest option in my opinion. If you can buy hay it’s going to be $3/400 a tone but it won’t last long. If you don’t have a plan In place now for your winter feed you should because once it’s gone it’s gone. We are now taking orders for straw now in big squares or rounds we can organise the freight if required also. Don’t miss out as we will only be baling up what people order.
Summer crop options
Again if you can get on the ground
Forage r**e
Millet
Sorghum
They all work very well in the Mansfeild and surrounding areas. Millet and sorghum can be cut into hay or silage.
With spring just around the corner the grass is trying to grow but it will need help to get the maximum out of it. With fertiliser prices still high it’s a hard decision to decide if it’s worth putting any on and cutting hay or silage. With not much good hay been made in the last 2 years with bad weather and higher grain prices don’t think there is an abundance sitting around it will run out quick. If you have a grass problem it would be a good year to put in an underground silage pit for some security for the next dry period. For more info don’t hesitate to get in touch.
IT'S BROADLEAF AND INSECTS SEASON
With the recent rains we're seeing new pastures and oversows on the move. Unfortunately, autumn rain brings with it weeds and insects Now is the perfect time to "clean" your pastures, before those pesky little weeds and insects become big problems. With a broad range of herbicides and insecticides available, we can guide you towards the best option for your paddocks.
Taipan oats looking the goods sown 21st of March.
About halfway through our sowing program looking for rain 🌧
And we’re off sowing 2022. Starting with some lucerne that should have been sown in the spring but the rain disappeared.
March is here and with some good rain Saturday morning and earlier in the week it won’t be long before we start sowing. Currently we are ploughing ground in preparation for seeding. Get in quick if you want work done as our schedule is nearly full.
Proof is in the pudding. Want to run more stock and grow more feed then you have to sow new pastures
As another year comes to an end, we look back at how good a spring our clients have had. It made for some tough silage and hay making conditions. UGA would like to wish all our clients, old and new, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Quick follow up on the phalaris that was sown 17th September. It’s up and growing well.
Sowing in spring can be risky, but if the rain continues you can be rewarded with fast pasture establishment. This means the paddock may be out of production for only 5 months, instead of 9. Spring sowing also avoids the winter weeds that can suffocate phalaris.
It was a rush last week to get this 22ha paddock worked up and sown before the rain. A bit of spring sown phalaris let’s hope for some more spring rain to get it established.
It’s been a wetter winter than what we have been used to this year. But with things starting to dry up it’s time to get your plans in place for spring sowing and fodder production.
