Conquer Yourself..... Conquer Life!

Much of our awareness of our thinking, reactions and behaviours is subconscious.

By taking the time and making the effort to know yourself, you're able to observe and reflect on how your thoughts, words and reactions impact on
you as well as on others.

When you grasp the effect of your behaviour, you're
able to do something about it, including doing more or less of something, or making alternative choices.

The more you grasp what is true for you - your values, attitudes and points of view - the more you're able to grasp the impact of your thoughts, words and
behaviours on others.

What you say (and don't say) during your internal dialogues helps you understand what your body, mind and soul are experiencing and communicating.

When you combine listening to yourself with self reflection your self-awareness increases, enabling you to make better decisions.

Recognising your core values helps you clarify what you want to be, do and have in your life, including how you want to feel and behave.

The more you understand yourself, the more you can direct and control your behaviour and create positive, productive relationships.

When to meditate: There are two times a day that are most conducive to meditation: right before you go to bed at night and as soon as you get up in the morning. That's because when you fall asleep, you naturally shift through the entire spectrum of brain-wave states, going from your waking, beta state to the slower alpha state, when you close your eyes, to the slower-still theta state, when you're half-asleep and half-awake, all the way down to the deep-sleep delta brain-wave state. And when you wake up in the morning, you do the same thing in reverse: rising from delta to theta to alpha to beta, where you're fully awake and conscious. You could say that the door to the subconscious mind is open during these two times.

Where to meditate: The most important consideration in selecting a place to meditate is to choose a place where you won't be distracted. Because you'll be unplugging from the external, physical world, pick a quiet place where you can be alone and uninterrupted–a place that you can return to everyday and use as your regular, sacred meditation spot. I don't recommend that you meditate in bed, because you associate bed with sleep.

How long to meditate: While our meditations will generally last between 45 minutes and an hour, allow yourself plenty of time, if possible, to settle your mind before you begin. If you need to finish by a certain time, set an alarm to go off 10 minutes before you have to end the meditation, to give you an opportunity to finish the session without having to come to an abrupt stop. Don't let time be a distraction though.

When, where and how long are you meditating for? Comment below.

The body is an amazingly complex machine.

At any given time there is complex communication among various cells, tissues, organs, and systems that serve to coordinate its physiological functions.

When you think of the numerous processes occurring within the body at any given time, it is truly remarkable that these physiological functions work so well together.

Even at rest, the body is physiologically quite active.

Imagine, then, how much more active all of these body systems become when you engage in exercise.

During exercise, nerves excite muscles to contract.

Exercising muscles are metabolically active and require more nutrients, more oxygen, and efficient clearance of waste products.
