• 3 month old 100% het axanthic jungle pythons! we don't have names for these cuties yet, but are keen to see how they develop. the male is a little bit more high strung than his sister, but that's to be expected with babies (and it's not like their nips hurt)

Reg is losing his red tummy that he had as a hatchling, but that's okay because his stripes are absolutely gorgeous 😍 and Teacake is showing off his amazing iridescence ✨🌈 that's the sign of a healthy growing boy!

as an aside we've also paired up hopeful parents Biscuit and Attila 👀 watch this space for updates on the pair, who are both 100% het for albino!

• this absolute stunner is Biscuit, my very first snake. she's a spotted python with the absolute sweetest temperament (her favourite spots are sitting on my head or in my lap under a blanket). we celebrated our third Christmas together today 🥳

we also realised that Teacake is roughly the same size Biscuit was when I got her, so swipe to see the difference between a yearling and a sub adult spotted!

• Marbles, Dec 2021 vs August 2020, 5 months after we got him

yesterday Marbles ate his first two week old quail, which really hit the spot. a year ago, we first started assist feeding him as he hadn't eaten in nearly 8 months. he was what vets would classify a "failure to thrive", in other words needing to be euthanised. he weighed 70 grams, showed zero interest in food, but we couldn't let him down. after many vet trips earlier this year after trying everything we could think of (powerade soaks, braining, assist feeding, and raising heat to name a few) he was diagnosed with a rare respiratory infection which didn't show any symptoms except for an occasional wheeze when he breathed - there was no excess saliva, mucus bubbles or lethargy.

after intensive treatment and even higher temps (he was feeling right at home at 40 degrees Celcius!) the wheeze went away and he started eating independently. we cried after he took his first meal - a day old quail. we had to be careful not to overwhelm his gut as he hadn't eaten in so long, and spent 3 months feeding him day old quail and monitoring him.

he's gained a couple 100 grams, and while he won't grow to his full size, we're certain he can live out a long, happy life.

• spotted pythons are some of our favourites here at whiplash. this is our youngest (and smallest!) guy Teacake. he's 100% het for albino and only just hit a year old. this past weekend we celebrated him eating his very first fuzzy mouse! 🎉🐭 (he was off to a slow and difficult start to feeding)

• one of our pride & joys, hera 🥰 she's feisty (as per caramel jungle jag norm) and has a HUGE personality
a few hours after we took these photos, she shed as well! so she's looking even more gorgeous

• tank upgrades for these two coming out of quarantine! Polaris, our albino darwin, got a 3x2ft with plenty of enrichment to encourage muscle strengthening and conditioning! Attila, our male 100% het albino spotted, got a 2x1.5ft.

Incubators in Australia are a little so-so…so we’re converting a wine cooler into one for next season!
