The residential building industry has been caught in a perfect storm.

Starting from the Government’s home builder stimulus package, creating massive demand, with builders signing fixed price contracts, shortage of materials drove costs soaring, resulting in construction costs above those fixed contract prices, which has led to increased builders going bust.

The latest insolvency data from ASIC showed that 1,236 companies in the construction sector have already gone this financial year, with predictions it will worsen over the next 12 months.
