✨ Happy Diwali! ✨
Wishing a joyous Diwali to all my friends and families who celebrate this vibrant festival.
, the Festival of Lights, symbolises the triumph of light over darkness and hope over despair—a reminder of the values that connect us all!
May your homes be filled with love, light, and prosperity. Here’s to embracing diversity and celebrating the traditions that make our community so unique.🌟
Wonderful BBQ with the North Balwyn Rotary Club at this afternoon. 🎃
Thank you to all the amazing volunteers, supporters, friends and family who encouraged me in all different ways. It is great to have you along my side during this campaign, I have learnt so much and gained valuable experience.
As voting has closed last week, I am taking all the signs off in Bellevue Ward, and will complete in the next few days. Please contact me if you have already taken off the sign and would like me to collect it. Thank you again. 🤞💙🫶🏻
The Willsmere Station Community Garden was built in 2019 by the City of Boroondara for local residents. The garden has 50 individually allocated plots, and features a communal food forest which provides opportunities for harvest sharing, raised plots that are wheelchair accessible, shared wicking beds and a children’s area with raised circular garden beds. Today we celebrate its 5th anniversary! 🫶🏻

Remember, the ballots must be posted by 6pm on Friday, 25th Oct.
People have said they don’t need another politician - they want someone who listens and genuinely cares. 👍
Backed by our community, I’m thrilled to receive this level of trust, and I’m committed to making a real difference to our neighbourhood, improving services, and getting projects like the Kew Recreation Centre back on track. 🙌 I will also continue to advocate for better amenities and solutions in relation to North-east Link. 💙 Most importantly, back to the basics - road, rate, rubbish!
Make your vote count this week, bring new energy and ideas to Boroondara City Council. ✅
Dianne and David, long-term residents of Orion Road, have raised concerns about an 8-meter noise barrier proposed as part of the North-East Link project. While addressing noise and air pollution is crucial, a wall of this height would block all their view of the greenery and negatively affect their quality of life.
They submitted a letter to the Minister for Transport Infrastructure in August, but are still waiting for a full written response. Some may think, ‘not in my backyard,’ but this is about finding a solution that protects the community without compromising residents’ well-being. We need to think creatively and design solutions that are both efficient and considerate of those most impacted.
Democracy is for everyone - not just the loudest voices, but also those that often go unheard. I am here to listen, facilitate, and represent my community to the best of my ability. 💙
Believe it or not, we’re still setting up fence signs! 💙 Since the start of my campaign, I’ve been responding to emails from constituents, and I’m amazed at how many people have followed up by asking for a fence sign straight away. Jaymie here is one of the many! 🙌
I’m incredibly grateful for this trust, and if elected, I’ll work hard to make you proud of your vote. 🗳️
My turn at the cashier for the Kew Toy Library sausage sizzle at Bunnings Hawthorn this afternoon! 🌭 It was so busy, but great to see so many happy faces. 😊 Big thanks to Jess Wilson MP for dropping by, and a huge shoutout to our awesome KTL team for a fantastic day! 🙌

I’ve been so fortunate to meet many residents through door knocking, and some have even joined my campaign as volunteers! 🙌 I’m incredibly grateful for their trust and will work hard to make sure our efforts pay off. If elected, I will keep working closely with the community, truly understanding your needs and concerns. I’m here to listen, facilitate, and be a strong voice for Bellevue Ward.

A big thank you to Philippa and the team for hosting such a special event tonight! Art to Art Gallery in Balwyn North is a true hidden gem, and I’m excited to share it with friends and family. It’s great to see so much interest in local art and artists.
I’m also very grateful to businesses like Art to Art for their trust and support. 💙💜💛
Update: Kew Recreation Centre
WorkSafe Victoria announced today that two companies have been charged following the steel framework collapse at the Kew Recreation Centre in October 2022. As a Kew East local, mum, and candidate for Bellevue Ward, I know how much our community relies on safe and functional spaces like this.
I’m encouraged to see accountability being pursued, but this incident reminds us why safety must always come first in development projects. If elected, I will push for greater transparency and oversight on major local projects to ensure they are delivered safely and responsibly, without compromising community wellbeing.
The case will be heard at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 11 November 2024.

Pam and I had a nice morning walk with 🐶 Zephyr and Sonny (who’s trying to stay out of sight)! Loved chatting with the community and meeting all the adorable fur babies. One concern that continues to come up is the Northeast Link. Many locals feel overlooked, but even though it’s a state issue, the council can still advocate for proper community consultation. We need to get key things right, like noise barriers—not just the height, but also the design—and basic amenities for the remaining Koonung Creek Reserve.

As a mother, I share this with a heavy heart. To those who had to experience a loss: you are not a lone, and it’s ok to be not ok. Do find support if needed please, from The Pink Elephants Support Network or Red Nose Grief and Loss 💜
💜 This evening, we mark Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day by lighting up Hawthorn Arts Centre in purple.
Observed globally on 15 October, this date is a way to come together to remember and celebrate the lives of babies who tragically passed away due to miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death, or other causes of infant loss.
Red Nose is a not-for-profit organisation that offers information, support, and connection for families navigating the loss of a baby. If you or someone you know needs help, please contact their 24/7 support line on 1300 308 307. For more information, visit the Red Nose website https://rednosegriefandloss.org.au/ .
Celebrating girl-power and diversity! This photo says it all. 🙌
Most of my volunteers are Bellevue locals who share similar values, and I truly appreciate their trust in my leadership and integrity in this election. Together, let’s bring fresh energy and ideas to Boroondara Council! 💙
What a fantastic sunny day at the Camberwell Sunday Market, supporting our Rotary Club! 💛 The traders are so passionate and creative—love seeing this community in action!
The spring pollen was out in full force today, and hay fever season has definitely arrived, but it didn’t stop us from enjoying the market. 🥰
Another great morning out in the community, listening to the concerns of residents. I hear the frustration around the North-East Link, an issue I’ve been actively advocating for over the past few months. Many are also worried about safety following the recent burglaries in Greythorn and the Village Balwyn North shopping strips. Housing concerns continue to come up, with residents wanting a balanced approach—this isn’t a simple, black-and-white issue.
At the same time, I’ve been encouraged by people who’ve already voted for me and those who have shown their support. I’m truly grateful to everyone who’s voted, volunteered, or shared their opinions with me—it means a lot during this campaign.
Today is the Double Ninth Festival, also known as Chongyang Festival, a traditional Chinese holiday celebrated on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month. It’s a special day to honor our elders and enjoy time with family.
I had the privilege of spending the afternoon with the Chinese Australian seniors group and was truly impressed by their wonderful performance! Events like these remind us of the importance of preserving and celebrating cultural heritage across generations. 🥰
Many of you may have received your ballot paper and my hand-signed letter by now. It would be an honor to earn your vote and represent you on Council. 💙
If you haven’t received the letter yet, it should arrive soon! Happy voting! 🗳️
🍕 for lunch with the Greek community, thanks to these wonderful ladies! It’s great to hear from the seniors and seeing them so actively involved!
We talked about issues on parking and cost of living, as well as community safety. Vote 1 Serena Huang for Bellevue Ward - I’m ready to listen and serve. 💙
Great to catch up with Vivienne Harkness, community legend and President of the Boroondara Stroke Support Group (BSSG). I first met Vivi a few years ago and have been a fan ever since.
BSSG offers crucial support to stroke survivors and their carers, helping them transition from hospital care back into the community. It’s now one of Australia’s most active and innovative stroke support groups, making a real difference in people’s lives.
This morning, I attended the Community Safety seminar at the Kew Seniors Centre, where I heard from Neighbourhood Watch and Boroondara Police about the alarming rise in burglaries in our shopping strips and neighbourhoods over the past months. It’s shocking to many in the community.
A safe, clean neighbourhood is my top priority because it’s what I’m hearing from residents. If elected, I’ll push for more resources to support Neighbourhood Watch, better street lighting, and advocate for stronger Youth and Bail Laws with State Member of Parliament. Safety is a fundamental need for our families and businesses—it deserves more attention. 💙
PS: You can get these Little Black Book of Scams at your local police station. They are very useful!
