Our 3-year-old kindergarten children have been busy mastering the art of using scissors, and it's been such an exciting journey!
From cutting through play dough to snipping paper, they are exploring various mediums and developing crucial skills along the way.
Learning to use scissors is more than just a fun activity—it’s an essential life skill that promotes fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, and precision. As they cut, children are not only learning how to use scissors, they are also creating wonderful pieces of art and building confidence and independence.

Health and Hygiene Lessons

Now that winter has arrived, it's ideal to teach our young children the value of cleanliness and wellness! Our kindergarten is committed to helping our 4-year-olds develop healthy behaviours that will keep them clean, safe, and well not just for the season but for a lifetime.

The children have been learning about a lot of basic health and hygiene practice over the last two weeks, like -

When they cough, cover their mouth using folded arms away from everyone
How to use tissue to wipe our noses and discard it properly in a bin
Regularly and thoroughly washing their hands etc.

We also spoke about how the lack of health and hygiene practices can lead us to get unwell or sick and we may have to visit a doctor at some stage. We converted a small area in our classroom into a makeshift hospital in order to make this learning enjoyable and interesting! Using their newly acquired knowledge on how to stay healthy, children had a great role play episode with their toys and peers, they had great time pretending to be doctors, nurses and patients. This practical exercise stimulated their minds and inventiveness while reinforcing the value of hygiene.

We will continue to include such holistic and important learnings into our kindergarten program to facilitate the overall development of children.
