Every year, we put a shout out for our missing room, in case a new friend to these pages recognises the fireplace and panelling of Gwydir’s missing C16th Oak Parlour.
It was sold in 1921 to William Randolph Hearst (aka ) who assembled it in his apartment in New York. It left there in 1936 and has been missing ever since. The Hearst family don’t appear to have it and it’s not at San Simeon.
We found the Dining Room languishing in a warehouse of the Met. Museum (NY) and it’s now back home at Gwydir but our work will not be complete until this second room, the Oak Parlour is returned. This is what social media does best - please share our story - fingers crossed and thank you, as ever, for your amazing support!
