Research analysing different samples of honey has conclude that honeydew honeys generally have a much higher antioxidant value than flower honeys. Their dark colour is usually an indicative of a higher content of antioxidants, especially polyphenols, flavonoids, but also carotenoids and other types. Antioxidants protect cells against oxidative stress and discourage the onset of chronic disease as a result of it. Moreover, they hold anti-aging benefits.
Richer in minerals and vitamins than floral honey. Honeydew honey concentrates more essential nutrients than floral honeys, research has showed that honeydew honey from the most pristine areas of forest contain excellent amounts of nutrients, particularly potassium (up to 3,500 mg of potassium/100 g of honey), but also magnesium, calcium, phosphorus and vitamin C. The essential vitamins and minerals in the honey, together with the natural sugars and other nutritious elements help combat fatigue, raising energy levels and preventing hypoglycemia.
Prebiotic benefits. Forest honeys are a good source of oligosaccharides, natural sugars that ferment and serve as prebiotics, or food source for the beneficial bacteria in our digestive tract. Thanks to their prebiotic effect, the honeys promote digestive health, improve transit time and even nutrient absorption (for us to be able to absorb nutrients well, we need healthy populations of gut flora which are sustained by eating prebiotic foods). They may also have a very mild laxative effect, helping relieve constipation and improve overall gastrointestinal function.
Natural remedy for gastritis. It has been suggested that honeydew honey has both a gastroprotective and an antibacterial action and contributes to the treatment and management of gastritis and even stomach ulcers. The honey is believed to exert a soothing, protective action of the stomach lining, encouraging it to produce more mucous and reducing stomach acid production, thus contributing to healing gastritis naturally.

Orohaki Honey 🍯 is a Natural remedy for cough and sore throat. HONEYDEW HONEY: CHARACTERISTICS

The properties of honeydew honey are varied and concern several aspects: compared to most honeys, it is richer in minerals, manganese, phosphorus, zinc, cobalt and sulfur. In addition, calcium, magnesium, iron and potassium are also present in good quantity, together with polyphenols and other antioxidants and probiotics.

Honeydew honey has a lower amount of glucose than nectar honey, and a greater amount of complex sugars. Because of the lower presence of glucose, honeydew honey remains liquid for a long time, i.e. it has a reduced tendency to crystallization.

What is the difference between floral or blossom honeys and honeydew honey people often ask?
Orohaki Honeydew honey is higher in minerals and amino acids than floral honeys as well as having moleculars (oligosaccharides) in particular, melezitose and raffinose. Which are essential natural sugars which are higher in fructose and lower in glucose levels. Oligosaccharides are prebiotics that have a beneficial effect on bacteria in the digestive system.
Honeydew is darker, less sweet, less acidic and resists crystallization when compared to other honey. Honeydew honey has higher electrical conductivity and ash content and tends to remain liquid and resist crystallization because of high fructose and low glucose levels, as well as a low glucose to water ratio.
