Join us in congratulating our Champ Women's Head Coach Carey "Paps" Papanicolaou on coaching his 500th Big V game tonight at 6pm at the Corral! Paps started his 3 year coaching apprenticeship in 1996 as assistant coach for Keilor Thunder CBA team which is now in NBL 1 under 3 coaches, Peter Flemning, Mark Landells and Scott Delzoppo before becoming the Head Coach of the Coburg Giants Men in 1999. Paps' journey has since coached at a number of clubs such as: Altona Men & Women Whittlesea Men Melton Men Wallan Men & Women Keilor Men & Women winning Championships with both. Congratulations Paps on an outstanding milestone!! This week Paps sat down with Alex McKellar of our Champ Women to discuss his coaching journey.

The Hume City Broncos Youth League Men kicked off their season in fine style tonight, with a 92-66 win against Melbourne University. They set the tone for the match with a convincing 32-16 opening quarter and never looked back. Captain Ben Galea led the way with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Broncos U12.1 VC Boys take a bow! Faced with a 13-27 half time deficit against Geelong, the lads stormed home and landed a late long bomb to come away with a 48-48 draw. Julian Siladi led the way with 16 points and Levi Forbes added 14.

It wasn't quite "for the win", but in yesterday's junior domestic comp Greenvale Basketball Club Inc U12 Div 2 Boys found themselves down by 3 against Oak Park Saints Basketball Club and one of their players launched a long bomb from beyond the arc to snaffle an 18-18 draw. Thanks to Oak Park coach Luke Cherry for sending this through.
