๐ High-Performance Program ๐ The Senior High-Performance Program has kicked off this term, with over 30 committed athletes training multiple mornings a week in the new High-Performance Centre and with the ACC Cross Country squad. The program has been designed to develop studentโs athletic abilities with a long-term approach in mind and will be expanded to include students from Years 7 to 9 in Term 4. On Tuesday night we officially launched our Essendon Football Club Academy (EFCA) Year 11-12 program at the NEC Hangar. Over 150 parents and students joined us to hear Mark Bolton (Chief Strategy and Growth Lead โ Essendon Football Club) and Francis Camenzuli (Assistant Principal โ Learning) talk about how this new program can be integrated into the VCE for senior students. An extremely exciting time at the College and it was amazing to see the demand for the program. ๐ Celebrating the Feast Day of Blessed Edmund Rice ๐ On Friday, 3 May, we came together and celebrated the Feast Day of Blessed Edmund Rice. The day began with a heartfelt Mass, setting a tone of reverence and community spirit. ๐ฏ We were honoured to have guest speaker, Mr Jason Bongers from Edmund Rice Foundation Australia, enlighten us about the impactful ways in which the funds raised will contribute to meaningful projects. His words were not just informative but truly inspiring. After Mass, our students embarked on a 10km walk, a gesture of solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Embulbul, Kenya. ๐ The afternoon was filled with fun as students engaged in various activities after the walk. It was a beautiful blend of celebration, reflection, and action. Today, we gathered together to remember and honour our brave service men and women who have fought and sacrificed their lives for our country. As a part of the ANZAC Day assembly, we were privileged to have Mr Andrew Lonsdale, a current staff member who has served in the army, share his reflections on this significant day. Mr Lonsdale also participated in a Q&A session with two of our students, providing an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the significance and importance of ANZAC Day. ๐โโ๏ธ Move in March: A Journey of Fitness and Well-being Over the last few weeks, our Year 7 and 8 students have been involved in Move in March, a Better Moves Around Schools and Let's Go Zero initiative proudly presented by Moonee Valley City Council. ๐ฅ In a video message, our College Sports Captain talks about the program and how important it is to stay active. Part of the video includes an interview with one of our Year 8 students who tells us about his favourite ways to be active and the importance of being active for mental health. ๐ง We are so proud of our students for participating in this event and for being part of a community that promotes healthy and active lifestyles.
