📢 The Department released its long-awaited migration strategy on 11 December 2023. Let's look at the proposed changes to the 485 visa that could be implemented this year. 🗓️ 📜 There will be significant changes to the 485 visas, making them more targeted towards international graduates with skills required by Australian employers. 🛠️ These changes include: 🔄 TGV streams will be renamed 'Post-higher Education Work' and 'Post-Vocational Education Work' streams. ⏳ Reducing the length of stay for international graduates: Bachelor & Master's Degree: 2 years Master by Coursework & PhD: 3 years 🚫 Preventing holders of TGV from moving back onto student visas while onshore. ⚙️ Restricting the stay of international graduates without skills in demand from remaining in Australia. 🎯 Reducing the age eligibility from 50 to 35 years – targeting early career professionals. 📈 Increasing English language proficiency requirements for TGV from IELTS 6 to IELTS 6.5. 🕒 Decreasing the English language test validity window for a TGV from 3 years to 1 year. ❌ 476 visas and Replacement Streams are to be abolished. 📍 TGV extensions for students studying in regional areas will remain between 1 and 2 years, depending on their location. No other TGV extensions, such as 2-years, are based on qualifications. 🚀 So far, the Department has implemented one of these changes: no other 485 visa extensions other than the regional ones. 🗓️ The extended post-study work rights for international graduates commenced on 1 July 2023, providing graduates with degrees in select areas of verified skill shortage for an additional two years on their Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485). 🔄 The extension has been reconsidered given Australia's changed economic environment and additional considerations identified in the Migration Strategy. As such, international higher education graduates can no longer apply for the extension from mid-2024. 🎓 Internationa
As announced last week by the 🇦🇺 Australian Department of Home Affairs, the move is a key commitment in the Migration Strategy released last year. It aims to restrict "visa hopping," ending loopholes allowing students and temporary visa holders to extend stays indefinitely 🚫. This follows 36,000 applications last year to convert from tourist to student visas 📉. Additionally, Temporary Graduate Visa holders can't apply for Student Visas onshore 🎓. "The migration system we inherited was completely broken," said Minister Clare O’Neil 💼. "Our goal is a smaller, strategic migration system that works for Australia." Since last year, Australia tightened visas for international students 🛂. They aim to halve immigrant numbers in two years 📉. In February, international student visa duration was reduced to 2-4 years ⏳. Universities were tiered by recruitment risk, affecting visa processing 🎓. March saw higher English requirements (6.0-6.5 IELTS) and a 24-hour weekly work limit ⏰. Financial proof for students rose 20% last month 💸. International education contributed AUD$36.4 billion to the economy 💼. Australia hosted 740,000 international students by March, with Vietnamese students comprising 5% 🇻🇳.

Good News for International Students and Professionals: Australia Reaccepts TOEFL Scores for Visas Attention international students and professionals seeking visas for Australia! There's some exciting news: As of May 5, 2024, the Australian Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has resumed accepting TOEFL iBT scores as proof of English language proficiency for all visa applications. This decision comes after a temporary suspension in July 2023 to allow for revisions to the TOEFL test format. The Educational Testing Service (ETS), the organization behind TOEFL, has implemented these revisions, and the DHA is now satisfied with the test's ability to accurately assess English language skills. What this means for you: More Flexibility: If you've already taken the TOEFL iBT test, you can now submit your scores with your visa application. This provides greater flexibility in demonstrating your English proficiency compared to previously accepted tests like PTE and IELTS. Globally Recognized Test: TOEFL iBT is accepted by 100% of Australian universities and over 12,500 institutions worldwide. Choosing TOEFL can potentially streamline your application process for further education or work opportunities. Streamlined Process (For Tests Taken After May 5th): If you haven't taken the test yet, you can now schedule a TOEFL iBT exam knowing your scores will be valid for Australian visa applications. Important Note: This renewed acceptance only applies to TOEFL iBT scores obtained on or after May 5, 2024. If you took the test before this date, you'll need to explore alternative English language proficiency tests accepted by the DHA. Considering studying or working in Australia? This is a great opportunity to leverage your existing TOEFL iBT scores or plan your test accordingly. Research visa requirements, explore Australian universities and career options, and get ready to embark on your exciting Australian adventure!
Hello everyone, today we are going to talk about the 482 visa and 186 visa transition stream. The 482 visa you have been holding for 2 years, you have been working for the same employer for 2 years, you have received the 186 TRT application but the 186 TRT application comes only when your 2 years of experience with the employer is completed. A lot of people make this mistake that after holding the visa for 2 years, because the visa is expiring, they don't get the new visa and lodge the 186 visa application 7 days or 10 days before. And many times that application is refused. So don't make this mistake. After completing 2 years of experience, then only you can lodge your 186 TRT visa application. Because it depends on the case officer that if you are lodging a visa application 7 days or 10 days ago, should you consider applying for it or not. And many times these applications get refused. As per law, you need to have that experience.
