Family Portraits, Small and big business branding photographer. Bayside more specifically but travel about all over the place Hello!
I'm Alan, thanks for dropping by to check out my images. I'm originally from Tasmania and now live in Melbourne, Bayside area to be specific. It's not the first time I've lived here, I actually studied photography at RMIT and managed to get myself an honours degree in applied science photography. That meant I could go out into the world and take photos of yucky things like medical specimens, I qui
With all the Halloween stuff, my intern Cyrus, commonly known as Fluff has his 4th birthday! He’s pretty cute and the reason why sometimes when you get prints that there is some white fluff on them. He’s cute but ultimately just a bit useless, but still happy birthday!
This year… different costumes… same vibe

It’s always sad to hear of a pup heading off to wherever they go to chase balls in the great beyond. I had the please of being sniffed, licked, charged at and also giving pats and tubs to Midas the last couple of years.
Much love to the Golden family, he certainly did make a lot of good with his touch x
Check this out
The HAPPY exhibition is Joe up at i@ Cheltenham. 20 kids tell us what makes them happy… and it’s everything from grandma to crystals to Oreos!
Exhibiton is on now until next Sunday the 27th, open from 7am to 3pm daily (2pm Sunday)
Plus you might also win some Bromleys goodness for visiting!
It’s been 12 months but Cal hasn’t left my thoughts everyday. Geez we were lucky. If you knew her you were extra lucky, if you only knew her from performance you were still lucky. Miss you x
This pic was from 20 years ago, our first wander and snap session

You would be surprised how often this happens!

But maybe hide the scissors once you have a session booked in! And it not just the kids giving themselves a hair cut, most of the time it’s the older sibling giving the younger one a trim!

You know, family portraits can get a bad wrap. Sometimes they can be WAY over the top, big frames, big faces... just BIG. I have a rule, if your head is bigger in print than it is in real life it's probably going to be too big for the wall (there are exceptions)
And you don't need to be BIG in the frame, incorporating the places you love is pretty important. Having the landscape as part of the photo gives you the chance to go big if you want to without dominating the photo with just heads.
I'll work on some more examples for you soon... actually this seems like a blog post waiting to happen... stay tuned!
Brothers make the best seats.
Congratulations to the Butler-Clark Family for picking up the trophy for Photobat’s Family of Winter!

So I failed my year of not entering awards…
Thanks so much to and Margaret Nyland for this honour.
The theme of the prize was simply “beauty” and when I thought about it, Reuben is beautiful in so many ways. His art in cabaret is beautiful, his ability to produce society when it’s needed is beautiful, his advocacy for the q***r community is beautiful and he’s not too bay on the eye too😉
Big love and thanks to and to everyone who supported the A VARIETY OF LATE-NITE VARIETY-NITE NIGHT PORTRAITS book earlier this year (still 3 copies left!)
I did a little speech at the shindig and had to dedicate this to both and , both of who encouraged and spurred me on when I had crazy ideas.
Ok here we go again! After the success of last year's HAPPY, it's time for the next edition of HAPPY! An exhibition and book that celebrates kids and what makes them happy!
I need 15 HAPPY kids for this exhibition and book that will launch at the end of October for International Children’s Week. This year we will be exhibiting at the home of Bayside's best bread and pastries,
Last years sessions were hilarious and fun for everyone with so many laughs and happiness from the kids.
Plus, as usual we have partnered with a charity, this time it’s The Kids Cancer Project, who help support research into childhood cancer.
AND THE BOOK! They normally take MONTHS to create, this one will be launched at the exhibition opening in 8 weeks. Last years has become pretty beloved by the kids involved, I keep getting messages from the parents saying how much their kids keep looking at it.
Speaking of the exhibition, it’s going to be up for a week at Bromley's for the whole of International Children's Week with a special opening event for the participants and the families.
Keen on more info? Want to see what made last year's kids HAPPY?
Just comment the word " Happy " below and I'll send you a link with all the details!
Remember, only 15 spots available! So be quick!!!
I’m slowly building up the first part of my new project… it’s called “As Photographed For…”
Editorial spreads of faces you know for magazines that don’t exist.
These two were a lot of fun yesterday. Rusty (Scared Weird Little Guys) and Dave (Rove Live, Good Game) just happened to be in the same geographic area so we did a double shoot at the best location.
More photos from the shoot and about the project will be revealed soon… new website in development!
Sneaky peek of Rusty in my story as I post this
