Finally got a finish coat of Satin hardwax oil onto this redgum dining table successfully. Phewph what a relief as this slab really had thrown me some curve balls... just had to keep at it till I shifted from stressed, to falling back in love with it 😁

Whipping up a BIG 88cm lazy susan out of reclaimed hardwood framing from a local demo. Gonna be a stunner. Customer is after that wormy chestnut look, so I’ve picked out some high feature timber to laminate this soon to be round panel. With my router compass jig I’ll cut the round tomorrow after flattening, then a round rebate on the underside for the spiny spin spin mechanism 🤣

This is what a resin pour takes to get done into a Friday night 🌙
Took about 4.5hrs to pour these 2 projects & all of this week to stabilise - shape - clean out knots, remove bark & decay. Oh and a fair bit of termite crap (good thing the kiln put an end to them along with the grubs)
Just kicking back now with a salad for dinner while monitoring bubbles n run away resin 🙄

Some jobs are not as simple as a DIYers might think.
Surgery was required to accommodate new downpipe & hold fast a handrail for safe access for client.
Mods to subframe - some math & Intuition to setup handrail fixtures in 1 go - replace boards where screws were holding into thin air or busted 🙄 Only experience it seems gets the job done right first time.

Got a lil rambunktious shaping the legs. Got kissed by the very aggressive sanding disk in the grinder. Pretty lucky really. Learned I need better gloves and watch my accelerator when in flow state 🙄

Wow busy day in the office planning the big stuff & feilding comms around quotes n invoices, yet Bianca & Shane managed to forward current batch of 12 stools quite well 😁

I'm so wrapped with how our new tri-stool design has come up 😍

The milk stool in Natural hardwax oil. The 2 'sit stools' are in Onyx White & Sapel Black with Satin hardwax oil. We absolutely love working with Whittle Waxes Evolution Hardwax Oil, it feels n smells amazing & really highlights the deep figure of our hardwoods.

Stools come in 4 sizes.
- Toddlers toad stool (should we paint it to look like the iconic red top mushroom?)
- Milk stool (seen here in clear matt)
- Sit stool (same height as dining chair)
- Kitchen bar stool (suit standard bench height 90cm)

Our chosen medium is reclaimed hardwood mix of house framing material from local house demolitions or fresh new feature grade Messmate.

Bar stool not pictured will have a very cool foot rest that doubles as leg brace. Feature pics to come in another post soon 😉

Remembering the value of time out.

With a mountain of things I need to do & want to do & dream of doing... I then find myself "putting out fires" to meet unrealistic expectations (of/from others AND on self)

A clear path forward comes first from a clearing of my mind & stepping away from being deeply immersed in my worklife which is blurred with my passion for creating.

All good things! Every now and then realise I need to come up for air & fresh perspective. I have a wide thinking mind that sometimes gets trapped by the micro details of all things in front of me.

I love expansive new thinking - it's where my uniqueness flows from - my innate creative intelligence - giving myself space for this is when I am most calm & centred. From this space moving into flow I am incredibly productive without force.

Note to self; notice when I begin to force outcomes - it seems most counter productive in that moment, yet that is THE moment when I NEED to stop... trust my talent - intelligence - universal timing and it will all work out. There are many greater things yet in store & the hard parts are temporary.
