She shares that her favourite story about working at the residence is her own career progression. “I started my career at Arcare as a catering assistant and after getting a certificate 3, I started working as a Personal Support Worker. After finishing my two years Master of Nursing course at the University of Sydney I started working as a Registered Nurse. She recently won the Star Environment Services award in Victoria. “I feel a bit emotional winning, and I want to say thank you very much. Especially during these times, it makes me feel like what I’m doing is making a difference, and that others can see that. I couldn’t do my job without the support of the families and other team members, so I’m so grateful.” Gail said. Gail fought back tears when it was announced that she had been nominated and won the award. She has worked with Arcare for eight years and initially started at Arcare Caulfield and then when she learned about Balnarring opening in November 2021, she made her move down. We sat down with the Arcare Catering team to show you the process of how our own new menus are created. The residents have a major role in the menu creation stages and the final menu that is offered. 🥗 The menu creation stage begins with a national template which goes out to our state based catering managers and support managers who put their details and opinions into the menu. Following this it becomes a residence specific menu as chefs from each residence put another level of individual detail into the menu, which is based upon chefs and clients feedback.
