Christmas time & sleep 🎄💤
Of course we want to try and keep things as consistent as we can during this busy time but we also know that it’s definitely not always possible & that is okay!
I know for myself, my 2.5 year olds bedtime has been all over the shop lately which so have her morning wake up times. Some days she’s been napping for 2 hours & others we haven’t been able to get her to nap at all but now that we have finished all of our Christmas celebrations & seeing all of our family, we can finally go back to her normal routine.
Christmas is a special time of year & it is only once a year. We don’t want our children to miss out on anything. Yes it’s important to ensure they’re still sleeping well both day & night but you can also always start again tomorrow.
If you need help getting your little ones sleep back on track, feel free to reach out to me for a free 15 minute chat which can be booked via the link in my bio 📞
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas with their beautiful families 🎄🫶
I look forward to helping more of you & your little ones sleep better in the new year 🥰
✨ Sleep Training ✨
Quite often I see many mums/parents asking if their 1+ year old is too old to be ‘sleep trained’ as many believe this is something that is done when babies are younger but this is definitely not the case at all.
There is never an age that would be classified as “too old” to change your child’s sleep patterns and introduce positive sleep associations. The biggest thing with changing your child’s sleep will always be consistency. Doing something for a day or two only and seeing no change, isn’t enough to know if it will end up working or not. I recommend always trialing any changes for at least 3-4 days if not a week to really know if what you’re trying will work long term.
From working with clients myself, I do find the 4-6 month age the easiest to change their sleep patterns and associations as sometimes the longer babies are used to something being a certain way, the harder and more persistent we have to be to work upon changing it.
I myself do only work with children up until 3 years of age as this is just where I am most comfortable and have more knowledge around though there are many sleep consultants who work with children up until 5-6 and through primary school age.
If you would like any help or support with changing your little one’s sleep, you’re welcome to send me a message to chat or you can book a free 15 minute phone call via the link in my bio.
✨ Client Review- 13 Months Old ✨
This mumma reached out to me with her little boy who was co-sleeping, breastfed and waking multiple times to feed overnight.
We established he had a feed to sleep association where he was unable to fall to sleep or back to sleep without being fed.
We used a gentle in the room method to transition bub to his cot at the same time as feeding earlier in the bedtime routine to begin to lessen this association. With a lot of consistency & persistence from mum & dad, we ended up seeing little man sleeping longer stretches overnight and only feeding once, being able to be resettled off to sleep using hands on approaches in the cot instead.
So so proud of these guys 🥹💤

✨ Client Review- Support Only ✨
Did you know I offer support only services, without the sleep plan?
If you’re someone who has reached out to me and would just like a little bit of reassurance that you’re doing the ‘right’ things or someone to ask any questions too, I can offer you one week of support to do just this ☺️
I met this lovely mum & bub at one of my sleep talks where she reached out to ask some questions regarding her 3M old at the time. We were going to do a sleep support plan but bub ended up responding really well to the example routines you can find on my page & mum just wanted to help & support along with it.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in, send me a message to chat 💬
✨ 2 hourly wake ups ✨
👉 This information is for those 3-4+ months bubbas.
👉 Once your little one turns 4 months, babies sleep changes and starts to look more like adults as they move out of the newborn phase. This is equally around the time of the 4 month regression.
👉 They are also becoming more aware of their surroundings and as they wake up overnight to move through sleep cycles are more likely to fully wake if they are in a different environment to what they fell asleep in.
👉 What do I recommend to help? From 4 months+ working on getting our babies off to sleep in the bassinet/cot which will help them to go off to sleep and be waking in the same place/same environment. You can still give them plenty of cuddles to make them calm and sleepy before placing them into bed and shushing, patting and rocking them the rest of the way off to sleep.

Feeding To Sleep 🤱🍼
Did you know that this can occur with either breastfed or bottle fed babies. Feeding to sleep is literally just that, your little one is falling to sleep on the b**b or bottle and then being transferred into their sleep space.
What can happen sometimes is that babies will wake up as often as 2 hourly overnight looking for the same environment in which they fell asleep in, which would be the bottle/b**b to sleep. Cat napping & only sleeping one sleep cycle at a time during the day can also occur from being fed to sleep.
Are feed to sleep associations a classified as a ‘bad habit’? No, no they’re not but they are a hands on association that can become quite tough to break for some parents when the time comes.
What are some things to try if you were looking at moving away from this?
- You can try moving the feed to earlier in the bedtime routine which will look something like this- bath, feed, book, songs, cuddles & bed.
- Settling your little one to sleep from within their bassinet/cot by rocking/patting/shushing. You can have them in your arms to rock and have them sleepy, but not asleep before putting them into bed to get them to sleep. Eventually you can begin to lessen the hands on assistance here to slowly start to give them the skills to self-settle.
- Try implementing an eat, play, sleep routine such as ‘EASY’ by Tracy Hogg which is Eat, Activity, Sleep and You/time for yourself. This is great to use along with awake windows for babies up to 3/4 month of age, before we would look at implementing any sort of formal routine.

✨ Client Review- 10 Months Old ✨
This little guy was taking up to an hour to go off to sleep of a night as well as waking multiple times overnight.
He was also able to self-settle though had gone back to needing some assistance going off to sleep again.
Within a few days of a new routine and a settling technique, he was going off to sleep independently and falling asleep within 10 minutes of being putting down for both day and night sleep as well as only waking once overnight 👏

✨Self-Settling ✨
Here is a little video of my daughter at 7 months that I just came across. I’ve just put her into bed as her awake window was up. She has all of her sleep associations: sleep suit, dummy, riff raff comforter & white noise. She doesn’t however have a dark sleep space as I taught her to sleep in the light during the day to know that the dark is for night time only, knowing this would help her when going to daycare from 5 months old. Majority of babies will sleep in a dark sleep space and this is generally what I would recommend as well.
What are some tips and advice around teaching your little ones to self-settle?
👉 The sleep environment is incredibly important as is keeping this consistent. If you know your little one is stimulated with light, ensure you have a dark room for naps. I always encourage white noise to block out any sounds/distractions and this also helps to create a calm environment for newborns.
👉 Sleep associations, are as equally as important as the sleep environment. Ensure your baby has these whenever they go to sleep to be consistent. *Comforters shouldn’t be given to babies until over 7M but they can have them outside the sleep space to play music etc.
👉 Follow the recommended awake windows, do a 15 minute wind down before the awake window comes to and end and then place your little one into their bed. *See my post on wind down time.
👉 You can stay with them and do the ‘Pick Up Put Down’ or ‘Put Down Put Down’ methods where you sit right beside your little one until they’re asleep- doing some patting/shushing if necessary. *From 4M+
👉 You can try a check in check out technique like spaced soothing where we use timed intervals to give baby some time and space to self settle. *From 4M+
👉 Absolutely buy a riff raff! They are incredible and definitely helped my daughter with self-settling from a young age.

✨ Client Review- 5.5 Months ✨
This little one was 5.5 months old where we worked on nap consistency and longer stretches of sleep overnight with the 2 weeks of support from the Ultimate Package.
She is now able to self settle, re-settle if waking early from naps and is only waking for feeds overnight. Such big improvements for the whole family 🫶

There are many ways to support a small business or a friend/family member who has a small business that doesn’t cost anything but means the world to them 🤍
I saw this post a while ago & wanted to recreate it, especially now after seeing 3 small businesses announce they’re closing in the past 2 days 😔
Please, if you see a post from a small business, try to engage with it in one of the ways mentioned in my post. A little goes such a long way 🫶

✨ Client Review- 7.5 Months ✨
𝙱𝚎𝚏𝚘𝚛𝚎 starting support- This bub was no longer self settling, needing to be fed &/or rocked to sleep, cat napping for his lunch time nap, waking multiple times over night & waking early or a morning.
The parents 𝙶𝚘𝚊𝚕𝚜 during our one week of support included having him self settling, consolidating the lunch nap, trying to limit to one feed overnight & sleeping in later of a morning.
𝙰𝚏𝚝𝚎𝚛 our one week of support- He was going off to sleep in his cot within 5 minutes with no crying involved, sleeping 2 hours for his lunch nap, only waking once or twice overnight with just one feed, when waking earlier then planned is content playing in his cot before getting him up for the day.
Such great results to this little guy & his beautiful family! 🥹👏

This little guy was still cat napping during the day along with waking multiple times overnight needing to be resettled.
After 2 weeks of working together he was only waking twice a night, falling asleep unassisted and having 2 nice big 1.5 hour naps in the day! So proud of these guys 🥹👏

✨ Why do I offer affordable sleep packages? ✨
1️⃣ I currently run this business on the side of my 9-5 job as an early childhood educator which I love & have so much passion for. I currently work 4 days/32 hours a week and do sleep consulting as a side hustle and a passion project as I genuinely want to help families and their little ones sleep better.
2️⃣ As a mum to a 2 year old, I get how important sleep is for the whole family. I need to charge a fee to cover my time, but I want to be affordable so families can get the sleep they deserve.
3️⃣ I only became certified in February this year therefore don’t have as much experience as some other consultants would have. However the transition from the childcare environment and working with the 0-3 age group, to sleep consulting has been an advantage for me.
4️⃣ I have a big heart and love helping people. It brings me great joy to know that my knowledge and what I do as a sleep consultant can make such a big impact and difference in the lives of others. I have always been such a giver. So much so that I often donate to a lot of go fund me pages, charities and disaster reliefs each year.
5️⃣ Sleep is important to our overall health, and currently sleep services aren't subsidised, so this is my part in helping families access sleep support who may not otherwise be able to afford it.
6️⃣ My prices may increase one day if this passion project becomes a more prominent source of income for me and my family, but my hope is it will always be affordable - because you really can't put a price on sleep.

✨ Working on resettling to extend naps ✨
👉 If you have a cat napper, try giving them some time and space before rushing to get them out of bed. Sometimes babies wake after a sleep cycle and will babble and move around before drifting back off to sleep.
👉 There is no harm in leaving baby in their cot/bassinet for a small amount of time if they’re content. Even if baby is sooking and whinging, not full on crying, this is also okay to do for even 5-10 minutes so they learn to wake up and know that you will be in soon, not always straight away as this just isn’t always going to be possible.
👉 You can use the times in the post regardless of what method you use to get your little ones to sleep. If your little one self-settles they can still be left if happy enough for that 30 minutes-an hour.
👉 If your baby is rocked or patted to sleep, you can also try this for the time mentioned in the post as per babies age.
👉 The more often you try resettling, baby will eventually realise they should still be sleeping. It can take some time to achieve but it will be worth it.
👉 I have mentioned this before but self-settling and re-settling are actually 2 different skills that babies either learn or end up being taught. Many babies can self-settle initially for sleep though overnight may need a bottle or some cuddles to fall back to sleep.

✨ Example 7 month old routines ✨
As requested by many of you ☺️
Save or screenshot this one for when you need it & follow for more sleep tips 🤍
👉 The recommended awake window for this age is roughly 2.5 hours though this can differ for all babies and that is okay.
👉 The 2 different routines vary with having 3 naps vs 2 naps. You can choose which one will suit your baby and family better.
👉 Not all babies are going to be able to follow a strict sleep routine, and that’s perfectly normal. If this is your baby, I would just go off the awake windows instead to ensure your bub doesn’t become overtired.
👉 The 3rd nap of the day can be just 15 on the 3 nap short-long schedule minutes if the lunch nap was long.
👉 If your baby is waking between 20-45 minutes into the lunch sleep or under 1.5 hours, try resettling them before getting them up. If baby self settles, leave them for a little bit if content as they may babble and roll around a bit before putting themselves back to sleep. This is very common for that 4-7 month age.
👉 If your baby is still having a dream feed at night, this is your reminder to now move away from this and wait for baby to wake up naturally for a feed. If you’re wondering what a dream feed is, there is a highlight with all the information on this.
Feel free to share with any mums/parents who will find this helpful 💤
✨ Example 6 month old routines ✨
Save or screenshot this one for when you need it & follow for more sleep tips 🤍
👉 The awake window for this age is 2.15-2.5 hours though this can differ for all babies and that is okay.
👉 The 2 different routines vary with the longer vs shorter morning sleep. You can choose which one will suit your baby and family better.
👉 Not all babies are going to be able to follow a strict sleep routine, and that’s perfectly normal. If this is your baby, I would just go off the awake windows instead to ensure your bub doesn’t become overtired.
👉 The 3rd nap of the day can be just 15 minutes if the lunch nap was long.
👉 If you’re struggling to get baby down for the 1st or 3rd nap, you can put them in the pram, car or baby carrier to achieve this, focusing on the lunch nap to be in the cot/bassinet.
👉 If your baby is still having a dream feed at night, this is your reminder to begin moving away from this. If you’re wondering what a dream feed is, there is a highlight with all the information on this.
