Basketball is back at the 2024 Australian Deaf Games in Newcastle this January!
We can't wait to see you all as we play the game we love over 3 days. We will have Womens, Mens and Mixed in 3x3 and 5x5 competitions. We will also have a kids clinic and some fun games lined up on the final day of basketball competition.

The Rehabilitation Specialists will be on site during the Games, offering Deaf Aware OT assessments.

The Australian Deaf Games is the pinnacle multi-sport event for deaf people in Australia. The event occurs every four years and involves 22 sports where all athletes, most officials and a large proportion of visitors are deaf or hard of hearing.
Competitors from across Australia, as well as a number of Pacific Nations (New Zealand, Fiji and Samoa) come together for social and elite competition. The games foster a friendly environment where all are encouraged to be involved and compete at whatever level they aspire. The Games also facilitates the selection process for individuals and teams to represent Australia at International Deaf events.
Accompanying the games is a major social and cultural festival for the whole deaf community. The slogan ‘Achieving Together’ fittingly represents the combination of sport and socialisation to promote the overall health and wellness of all involved and the power of the Australian Deaf community coming together in a fun, competitive and supportive environment.
Lake Macquarie and Newcastle are proud and thrilled to host the 2024 Australian Deaf Games. The region hosts an abundance of natural and cultural attractions, and elite sporting facilities making it the ideal location for the 2024 Games.
