Know your numbers. PART 1 📊The crucial understanding of markup vs margin!.Markup is a percentage on top of the cost of materials & labour..Example 👇🏻.Materials+labour = 300k + 20% markup =60k…. But 60k is NOT 20% of 360k….It works out to be 16% Gross Margin! Now if you’ve managed any profit from 16% when all is said and done your Doing Well 😉.Now speaking from experience 16% will not cover the cost of your overheads..At an absolute minimum your markup should sit at 25% giving you 20% margin..Another massive mistake that a lot of builders make is NOT factoring in overheads into their build costs.
