The winners of the Les Petsinis Blue Blood Award are Dom Sullivan and Tahlia Simpson.

The Blue Blood is a player who makes playing at Carlton Cricket Club more enjoyable.
They are valuable to their team mates on and off the field, and demonstrate selflessness in the support of other players, coaches, volunteers, families, and the wider Carlton community.
Simply put, they make CCC a better place.

Dom and Tahlia put in countless hours helping at training, coaching teams and individuals as well as assisting with social events and the running of many functions. These two are amazing people to have around the club and they certainly create a better environment for everyone on and off the field.

No one is more deserving than Tahlia and Dom!

Well done!

The Canny Memorial Best Club Person goes to Todd Marchant.

Brian Canny commenced with the Club in 1963, ultimately deciding that he could make a greater contribution to the Carlton CC in an off-field capacity. And so his career as a scorer started with the Fourth XI in 1964 culminating in his elevation through the elevens to the First XI in 1978, and until his untimely passing in January 1979.
The Canny Family instigated our Club’s Best Club Person Trophy and has continued to sponsor “The Canny Memorial Best Club Person Trophy” since 1978/9.

Todd commits countless hour to the Carlton Cricket Club, as a part of the committee, he organises social events, organises clothing and apparel, and also spends hours coaching and mentoring the youth of the club this including coaching the U16 Dowling side with Harry Smyth.

Without Todd the club wouldn’t be such a great place to be. We are truly grateful for Todd and everything he does and this award is recognition that Todd absolutely deserves.

Congratulations Toddy.

The records show that “Tracker” Numa came to Carlton in 1905 at the age of twenty-two. He played with the second eleven for some years from 1908 onwards.
In 1939 he was appointed Club Secretary and he worked untiringly in this position until his death after fifty-three years of faithful and notable service. During his term of office as Secretary, the Club passed through its most successful period to that time.

A great season by Jai winning the Houston and the H Numa Trophy!

Well done Jai!

The winner of the George R Armstrong Memorial 2nd XI Team champion award goes to Andrew Poppa.

George Armstrong was an avid supporter of the Carlton Cricket and Football Clubs all of his life. He played with the 2XI in 1920s and was elected to the Committee on October 31, 1949 and was a Vice President from 1959.
George served on most of the Club’s sub-committees and in particular, as a member of the Ground Management Committee, he did valuable work for the ground. From 1955 he served on the Match Committee as Chairman where his advice and shrewd observations were invaluable.

Andy had a terrific year scoring 379 runs at an average of 42.11 in the 2nd XI which further lead onto higher honours by becoming a first XI premiership player.

This award is a testimony to Andy’s consistency at the top of the order.

Well done Poppa!

Our Women’s recipient is Emer Heffernan. Emer had a terrific year taking 30 wickets at an average of 12.97 in our 2nd XI. Her best bowling figures were 5/39 against Geelong! At such a young age this is an amazing effort and a promising sign of things to come.

Gordon transferred to Carlton in 1941 after a couple of seasons with Essendon where he had played 12 games.
Although a handy batsman who registered many useful scores, it was as a splendid right-arm slow bowler that he returned some outstanding figures for his team, and was a prominent player in our first two official 1st XI premierships in 1945/6 and 1947/8.

He won the Club Championship in 1949/50 (and polled well in other years), and the Bowling Trophy on two occasions in 1947/8 and 1948/9.
He also represented the Australian Services XI in company with such luminaries as Lindsay Hassett, Keith Miller and Keith Carmody etc.
