Weekend over! Race results are in and from the start Lloyd proved anything I can do he can do better as we both didn’t make turn 1 in heat 1.
Heat 2 we both survived Cassy had the pace to match the top drivers but being a bit hesitant on the start couldn’t pull the gap back as the field was so close in times finishing P9. Lloyd had a very hard to handle kart but had some fantastic racing finishing P8.
A very cold start to the morning for Heat 3 and Cassy was showing great pace moving up the field from starting 16th, unfortunately the airbox fell off with 3 laps to go so another DNF. A few overnight tweaks to Lloyd’s kart made a slight difference and picked up a bit more time but was still not right finishing P8.
Finals time and starting P18 Cassy dropped back to P20 after karts were spinning down the straight but was up for the fight and drove through the field to P11 and with penalties in front it was a P10 finish 💪. The pace was there but track position killed any chance of making it any further.
Lloyds started the final well, we thought we had the kart in the window and with some mega moves he was up in P5, unfortunately the longer the race went on the worse the kart got and he dropped back to hang onto P6. Fastest time of the weekend so at least we know we were going in the right direction.

Overall an awesome weekend, we are so happy we actually got to race and have on track battles. We would like to thank everyone that made it possible. Kartstar for transporting the gear, Blackman Fabrications, GEC, Country Kart Spares for having us, and Hollywood for all the advice.

Race weekend over 😢
Cassy qualified P4 and we chipped our way back with some solid kart speed throughout the day. The final was was very difficult with the top 3 matching pace the entire race, Cassy went for a move with 4 to go but unfortunately didn’t stick it in far enough. After crossing the line 2nd she took a one place penalty. Disappointing end for both drivers in the end.

Final - P3

Lloyd Nicholson qualified P4 on wets and after dropping down the pack in heat 1 he drove right back up to P2 with some awesome speed. Unfortunately midway through heat 2 he had to withdraw for the weekend. Nursing some injured ribs he didn’t want to cause any further damage with our next major event just weeks away.

Massive thanks to Alex Barboutis for the wealth of knowledge around Bunbury, checking data and spinning spanners you are a superstar.
Nathan Will for driving all the way down on Saturday to help the whole crew out it was a welcome surprise. And to the rest of the CNL crew Thankyou for another fantastic weekend away!
