✨ While there are 100 billion stars in the Milky Way, research estimates there are between 15 to 51 trillion microplastic particles floating on the ocean surface.* The amount on the ocean floor is still unknown. Microplastics end up in the ocean from debris and rubbish, but did you know they are also in our everyday personal care products? Microbeads are added to make your skin feel nice, thicken liquids, absorb moisture, mix ingredients, hold things together and to simply add sparkle. When you use these products, the microbeads are washed down the drain and into sewage systems that often can't remove them due to their small size, allowing them to end up in rivers and oceans. The good news is you can reduce plastic pollution by making your bathroom plastic-free. Opt for natural alternatives and choose products without microbeads to help protect our oceans for everyone to enjoy! *UN News: Turn the tide of plastic.

Hey! You’re almost absorbing microplastics everywhere, like when you eat processed food, use washing and dishwashing tablets and even wear synthetic clothes. But you can do something about it. Buy clothes made from natural fibres such as wool and cotton. Use them when they get old as cleaning cloths in place of wipes held together with tiny particles of plastic. Ditch cleaning tablets and look for solutions with natural ingredients which clean just as good. You can fill your pantry without contributing to landfill and the microplastics problem. Can you go a day, a week, or even a month without using single-use plastic? 🤔 Sign up for @plasticfreejuly and help stop plastic before it starts.
