Following are some tips for the student visa or other visa holders in the group.
Other good migration professionals who are following us, can add some points as well.
Rest can take note and share this info that may save a lot of heachache in the future.

Important note: The following are just a few tips from experience not from CHATGPT 🙂

1. Don't leave everything to the Registered Professional, make sure you read the detailed instructions given by the professional and work as hard as possible.

2. Everyone should have checked their representing agency registration on OMARA.gov.au which is a government website and all registered migration professionals are visible on the database.

3. It is not recommended to Import the application by the applicant, if the client is utilising services from an authorised migration professional.

4. If there is a trust issue then, clients should not sign up at the start.

5. Client's usually ask for FREE consultation and forget "You get what you pay for" and there are many businesses who offer free detailed consultations. Free initial consultation is brief 10-15 mins in which a client verifies the agency office, meet the team members, shakes hands and understand the basic visa process and the expense bracket. It's a win win for everyone.

6. Check out agencies social media profiles and scroll down to see their performance even when they are referred by a friend.

7. There are good agencies out there who believe in transparency and sometimes during the consultation clients are not happy because they didn't hear what they wanted to hear as per their social media information. A good practitioner is there to assess the profile and provide advise as per the current rules and gained experience.

8. AAT alone cost around $7k to $10K depends on the workload and the complexity of the case, so better to do the above before getting in the unexpected situation.

9. Two similar (never the same) profiles can get the results in a very different time frames. So regardless of who applies the visa, no one knows when the correspondence will be received from the government. Best to lodge the file decision ready.

10. When someone reads the point 8, then having a paid consultation with the registered migration professional seems like a good investment.

11. 800,000 migrants are in AU at the moment, government tightening the screws and looking for an excuse to punish the applicants. No wonder AAT cases are on the rise.

12. Don't leave things to the last moment.

Migration rules are applied the same to everyone regardless of the main language or the country of passport. It is crucial to make sure the CURRENT rules are applied at the time of application.

Increase to the Financial Capacity Requirement for Student and Student Guardian visas.

​​​From 10 May 2024, the amount of money that Student and Student Guardian visa applicants need to have to be eligible for the visa is increasing.

The financial capacity requirement has been updated to align with a proportion (75 per cent) of the national minimum wage. This will better indicate the amount of money considered reasonable to provide a minimum standard of living while studying in Australia. This proportion considers that students are out of course session for 25 per cent of the year. During this time they may return home or have access to unrestricted work.

The government published erroneous information regarding the cost of living on their website and it is corrected now.
It's back to where it was earlier.
