Mind Blowing Mulloway from the Midwest with Tips
We obtained some sneaky footage of an absolutely unbelieveable Mulloway session from Brad Jones. Over the past few months just north of S-Bend, over four sessions, they caught and released more than 35 big mulloway. The smallest went well over a metre and the best was 142cm.
On the craziest night seen here they landed and released 25 that were definitely feeding on mullet and going crazy like tailor during the mullet spawning period. Brad says, "Look for good ground in close with a reef system, they love that."
More Tips from Brad:
🎣 Don’t cast too far, 30 to 40 metres is all you need
🎣 Mullet is a great bait, the fresher the better, non-frozen is best
🎣 Brad uses a 40-50lb wind-on leader
🎣 Make it from 3-4m of quality fluorocarbon like Ocean Legacy
🎣 Running Sinker Rig is no longer than 30cm from the sinker
🎣 Brad likes 2 x 9/0s circle hooks on a 60lb snell rig
🎣 He ties the bottom hook, don’t snell it so it has freedom of movement
🎣 Brad likes small swivels, use the lightest rig you can
🎣 Use a small glow bead
🎣 Drill out the sinker so your leader knot can pass through it
** Amazingly he found the wind and tide made no difference, they caught fish on all moon phases and conditions on 4 trips spaced well apart **
