This Sunday, September 24th 2023, I'll be taking part in The Distinguished Gentleman's Drive. Together with thousands of classic car enthusiasts around the world, I will be raising funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health for the charity, Movember.
Before the dapper day, I'll be looking to raise as much as possible for the cause, to help men around the world live happier and healthier lives. With men's chances of developing prostate cancer later in life increasing, and one man dying every minute by su***de, we must do all we can to prevent more men from suffering.
This is something that affects us all and together, we can make a change. Please give what you can.

AUTOFEST Performance Car Festivals are pleased to announce the addition of an All New AUTOFEST event that will taking place in Far North Queensland from mid 2018.
To be known as the INGHAM AUTOFEST and to be held at the Ingham Showground each year from mid 2018 the AUTOFEST CREW look forward in working together with local clubs as well as other events already running in FNQ and we are sure that this exciting new event for their region will also compliment their events as well.
Autofest is open to everything automotive from Cars, Trucks, Bikes in fact anything that has wheels is welcomed to join in on all the fun and with the theme of a Family Friendly Festival.
AUTOFEST Events include, Go To Whoa, Spear A Spud, Dyno Shootout, Show N Shine, Autokana and everyone's favorite, the Mighty Burnout Comp.
Other AUTOFEST events are staged at Mount Gambier S.A., Mount Panorama Bathurst NSW and our SPRINGNATS event that celebrates its 25th Anniversary has been ran by the same Crew for the 25 years.

Here's an example of a common-sense rules amendment to the benefit of car enthusiasts - from British Columbia in Canada.
Fenderless collector cars are now legal on the B.C. roads
Owners of qualifying specialty cars without mud flaps or fenders can now operate legally, thanks to an amendment to the Motor Vehicle Act Regulation, announced Premier Christy Clark.
“Whether they live here or are visiting, owners of these special, modified vehicles can now drive our roads legally,” Premier Clark said. “These owners take great pride in their cars and this summer, they can take them where they belong – the open road.”
This amendment to the Motor Vehicle Act regulation exempts qualifying vehicles from the requirement to have mudguards or mud flaps – as an alternative to fenders – on their cars. Now, owners of specialty cars can operate their vehicles without mudguards or mud flaps where the highway is dry and paved. Qualifying vehicles must have been built in 1940 or earlier, or be replicas of this vintage of vehicle.
“We heard from specialty car owners that this regulation was getting in the way of the legal operation of otherwise safe cars on our roads,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone. “This is a common-sense fix to unnecessary red tape that was making it difficult to attract collector car events to our province. Now, thousands of owners can travel to events, or simply take their cars for a spin without special consideration or concerns about breaking the law.”
Prior to this change, owners of these types of vintage or specially vehicles without fenders ran the risk of operating outside of the regulations of the Motor Vehicle Act, which required all vehicles to have mud flaps or fenders. These specific, 1940s-style cars did not have them as part of their design.
“This is great news for owners of specialty cars, both here in B.C. and outside of our province, especially as we get ready for a busy season of summer travel through this beautiful province,” said president of the Vintage Car Club of Canada, Okanagan chapter, Jim Carpenter. “With this change, I expect more event organizers will choose to have their next collector car show in B.C. with more to come in the future.”
This amendment is one of a number of motor vehicle-related amendments made in the past couple of years that provides clarity to regulations in the act. This includes providing more clarity regarding motorcycle parking distances, better language to improve the enforcement of Keep Right Except to Pass regulations and more information regarding requirements for winter tires.

QMSC member organisations Pontiac Car Club and Warwick Cruze Inn Group participated in the RACQ Grand Historic Car Display held in the centre of Warwick on Sunday July 23. Over 175 classic cars packed the main street of Warwick and spilled over into Leslie Park. This event is part of the Jumpers and Jazz Festival held annually at Warwick and was originally started to try to liven up the first weekend of the two week event, the second weekend being the major feature jazz festival. The car weekend has now grown to almost equal billing with visitors attending from all over SE Queensland and northern NSW. This is another clear example of the power of the enthusiast vehicle movement and how we are generating significant economic value, particularly in regional centres such as Warwick.

The aim of the survey is to examine the association between driver training programs, motorsport participation, driving experiences and attitudes towards driving. It's expected the survey will provide some important road safety insights. The survey will take around 20 minutes to complete and is at : https://survey.qut.edu.au/f/188386/5a42/

In this case, the enthusiasts weren't involved in the discussions or offered an alternative venue. The QMSC exists to represent you in circumstances such as this. Ever heard of a Bricklin SV1? At least one example is now in Queensland, seen at the Ormiston Australia Day event. For more information on this low-volume Canadian sports car from the mid-seventies see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bricklin_SV-1
Australia Day was huge in South East Queensland for classic car enthusiasts with shows at Ormiston, Loganholme, Caloundra and Glasshouse Mountains. The Ormiston one was by far the largest, with over 500 cars attending the free show, which also provided a free breakfast. A few photos are shown below.
