Relocated, no longer in Tasmania Hello! Thanks for stopping by my page. I'm Tyson, owner of TechnoHawk and a new arrival to West Kentish (Late 2020).

There's a good chance you're here because some part of your digital life is not making sense, performing slowly, needing to be upgraded, secured or otherwise just causing frustration rather than being helpful! TechnoHawk is here to help! Offering advice and support on all aspects of computer technologies, it's my goal to help you get the most from the technologies you own by:

Plenty of people will be asking the question: 'Should I upgrade to Windows 11'?

We don't yet know which side of the bus it's going to end up on! My advice is to hold off for the time being. It's very unlikely there's any software that you 'need' to upgrade for as yet - and Windows 10 isn't being dropped to the wayside just yet.

If you get a message that your PC doesn't meet the system requirements to run Windows 11, consider yourself lucky ;)

How gold is mined from electronic waste using microbes 22/08/2021

The world produces 50 million tons of e-waste each year — equivalent to 4,500 Eiffel Towers or 125,000 jumbo jets — from old computers, discarded screens, broken smartphones, and damaged tablets. (http://ewastemonitor.info/)

This is an issue TechnoHawk is committed to combatting in whatever little ways we can. A lot of devices that seem like they're useless can contain parts that are usable elsewhere or can be fixed with just one new part.

Of course, everything dies eventually including computers, so it's great to see amazing innovation from Mint Innovation (https://www.mint.bio/) which aims to assist the process of reclaiming the precious metal raw materials which are what makes our electronics work!

Check out this amazing video that details the process!

If you have a computer that you're ready to toss out, give TechnoHawk a call and let's see if there's another option!

How gold is mined from electronic waste using microbes A New Zealand startup has found a way to extract gold from old circuit boards using inexpensive chemicals and microbes that absorb precious metals.

Getting strange ‘missed call’ SMS messages? Here’s how to avoid the Flubot 18/08/2021

Android users - please be aware of the Flubot pandemic which your phones are susceptible to! The best action with suspicious-looking messages like this is always just to ignore and delete. You have a voicemail system you've been using for years and it's never sent you weird messages like this, so please don't think it's anything important!

Getting strange ‘missed call’ SMS messages? Here’s how to avoid the Flubot The Flubot malware has started to appear in Australia. Here's what it is, how to avoid it, and how to remove malware from your Android phone.

Very pleased to have been contacted by Railton Neighbourhood Centre to give the public-use computer a refresh. This is a great free service being offered! Check it out if you need to do some work that a phone just doesn't cut it for. Printing/scanning/copying is available too.

The computer is in great shape now, and there's a bunch of great activities being run by the lovely volunteer team! Definitely drop in to say hello!
