I can’t actually believe it’s been almost a year since our store opened its virtual doors 😩 (p.s I’m also super sad that my baby isn’t this little anymore 😭)

What a ride it has been! I could never have imagined our little biz would be kicking such massive goals in such a short time! We’ve sold over 700 of our teething toys (the calluses on my hands will tell you) and have 5 amazing stockists for our brand!

We can’t wait to see what year two holds for us - keep an eye out for our ONE DAY BIRTHDAY BLITZ SALE on the 10th of August. It’s going to be a big one.

Apologies in advance, but I need to have a bit of a rant 😬😬😬
I’m seeing an increase in new businesses popping up selling clearly non-compliant dummy chains, along with new bead suppliers with no idea of mandatory safety requirements.
Let me tell you now - a quick google search and browse of YouTube will NOT give you the information required to make a safe dummy chain. Period.
As a business that has been immersed in this industry for 8 years in July (😱), we are here to help and guide so I just want to clarify some VERY basic do’s and don’ts. They are up on our website under “product safety” and I’ve also put the link in our bio to take you straight there. PLEASE read and feel free to email us with questions - we will help where we can!
One thing we are frequently asked for, and something we will NEVER do is offer DIY tutorials on how to make any high risk baby products (dummy chains, teethers, pram toys etc). These are products that need to made with the upmost of care to the strictest of standards, not something that can be conveyed via a 3 minute video and not something I am willing to risk from a liability standpoint either.

Let me introduce myself - something I believe I actually haven’t done on here yet 😮

My name is Erica and I’m the brains behind the brand .and.riley 🤫 It’s been a short 6.5 months since we opened our virtual doors and holy moly it has been one CRAZY rollercoaster ride. My heart is so full from all the support and love we have received the past 6 months and it’s something I could have never anticipated.

I’m a mama of two gorgeous curly heads (Patrick (PJ) & Riley (Riley bear) and everything I have both created and sourced for my brand have been inspired by my own personal journey through motherhood. I still do a happy dance every single time an order comes through ESPECIALLY when it contains items that I make myself by hand 🥲

One of our most popular items to date are our handmade & independently safety certified ‘Rattle Ring’ teething toys. When you spend months creating something by hand & sending it away for testing to ensure it’s safety - you sort of keep track of how many of them are now out THERE. Recently we hit a huge milestone of over 500 of our Teether’s sold the past 6 months! We are so excited to be on this journey with you all!

As a new small biz in these unprecedented times, something about that quote really struck me.

I personally know all too well just how heavy the fear of failure can be. Under the weight of that fear it can be hard to remember things like this quote that make you stop and think just how proud you should be for getting to where you are today.
