HER WAY
Women’s sport, by Abbie
Yesterday I had the opportunity to add the title ‘University Guest Lecturer’ to my list of achievements, when I was asked to talk on a panel alongside journalist legend Tracey Holmes at UTS.
Not something I thought I’d be doing at 14yrs old but definitely a great experience!
🚨New podcast/vodcast episode alert🚨
Out today a fascinating, honest and encouraging chat with defending cycling Paralympic champion Emily Petricola.
Em was diagnosed with MS in her mid 20s while in the middle of a promising rowing career.
In this chat Em shares about how her life was turned on its head by her diagnosis, what it’s like trying to be an elite athlete with a degenerative disease, and what she would love to see happen to elevate Para athletes even more.

FRIDAY FLASHBACK:
Earlier this morning, Saya Sakakibara progressed to the semi finals of the BMX Racing in Paris. Many would have seen the inspiring story of Saya’s relationship with brother Kai, who had his BMX career ended in a serious accident shortly before Tokyo, where Saya herself had a crash.
Saya was the first athlete HER WAY ever interviewed, chatting to her from her hotel quarantine room after she returned from Tokyo. I was 11yrs old and had never prepared to interview anyone like this before… I was super nervous. I’ve been lucky to chat to Saya a few times since and she’s always been a great supporter of HER WAY. Check out that first ever interview from 2021👇
