Massive day for our national conversation on energy.
They’re feats of engineering and from up here the view is breathtaking.
This turbine in Western Victoria is 149m high and the blade tips add a further 80 metres.
Thoroughly enjoyed our first trip up to the top!

Thought leadership in The Australian on the social license challenge and facing down those manipulating communities for political advantage.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Market Outlook panel at in Brisbane this morning.
It was great to hear from Leanne Caelers from the Department of Energy and Climate, Craig Francis from Genex Power, Josef Tadich from Tesla and Vivienne Roberts from Neoen in conversation with Nicholas Aberle.
It was an engaging discussion with frank views on the challenges facing the industry and what the near future holds.
In Canberra for .
This was an epic budget for clean energy, particularly green hydrogen and one many of our best advocates have been working tirelessly for.
We caught up with many of our key Government stakeholders to congratulate and support them.
We also saw many of our main media peeps and dear old friends.
And no, this picture doesn’t mean I’ve returned to my broadcast career… for now…
Lights, camera… action!

We’ll see you all in 2024!
Events that invoke the Chatham House rule are invariably snoozefests.
The very best ones require the Vegas rule, an indication that what follows may actually be unspeakable.
That’s how The Australian’s Eli Greenblat launched the 37th Yuletidy, an annual Melbourne dinner and ratbag convention for the country’s top business journalists and corporate affairs operatives.
It first started after the stockmarket crash in 1987 and has been roaring along every year since.
Great to see Eli, Nick Evans, Christine Forster, Paul Zennaro, Matt Chambers, Patrick Durkin, Katherine Teh and so many other industry legends and rogues.
Always thrilled to receive my invite. Can’t wait for next year.
At All Energy Australia with Victorian Premier and Clean Energy Council CEO Kane Thornton.
If you’re in energy it’s an unmissable event.
We worked on the press conference with Kane, and Luke Menzel from the for the announcement of the strategy for the Victorian State Electricity Commission.
Our op-ed on greenwashing in Renew Economy. Link in our bio.
It’s a big year for energy and for public campaigns that change perceptions, influence action and shape the future.
There was a big win for renewables and storage projects last Friday.
It was also a win for consumers.
State and Federal Energy Ministers dumped a controversial proposal on grid connections.
The ESB’s push for Locational Marginal Pricing had caused consternation across the industry.
However, the energy industry galvanised against the change, campaigned consistently from a number of angles and brought about a change that will benefit all Australians.
Congratulations to all involved, those who took a high-profile leading role and also those who supported in a less visible way.
The ministers have told the ESB to dump the LCM proposal and work with government officials to develop a “more orderly” mechanism to manage grid congestion. Read more here.
They have been told to come back with proposals in the middle of the year.

Consumption of renewable energy is set to rise by 78% between 2015 and 20401. As for which type of renewable energy specifically, solar power is the fastest-growing source of energy, projected to grow from providing 11% of the US’s renewable energy to 48% by 2052.

Hydropower (water) is the most widely used type of renewable energy. This form of energy is generated by dams, and it currently generates over 54% of the world’s renewable energy capacity. And that, in turn, accounts for 18% of the world’s electricity.
Source: Inspire Clean Energy
In 2020, renewable energy was responsible for 27.7 per cent of Australia's total electricity generation, the first time that more than a quarter of the country's energy came from renewable sources. This was an increase of 3.7 percentage points compared to 2019.

In the United States, renewable energy employment outweigh fossil fuel occupations by more than 2.5 to 1, and the ratio climbs to 5 to 1 when only coal and gas (excluding oil) are included.
That implies there are 5,000 jobs available in the renewable energy industry for every 1,000 persons engaged in the coal and gas industries.

Tell the world how your business will lead us there.
We work with energy businesses that want to shift perceptions.
Tell the public what you currently know and what you don’t yet know, what you’re planning to do about it and what the public can do to help.
Not knowing all the facts is forgivable. Locking down and delaying communications can cause rapid damage that can be difficult to repair.
Anyone can ask the “tough questions”.
That isn’t media training.
The best training builds confidence for all forms of public speaking. It builds faith that you can deliver in the spotlight. And it provides simple tips to answering any question, safely, correctly and with consideration.
Record rates of rooftop solar adoption and substantial investments in large-scale wind and solar mean by 2025, the system should be capable of handling 100 percent renewable power at certain times.
The average Australian drives 38km per day so an EV owner can go for at least 10 days without a recharge. Unlike petrol cars, you can recharge at home or anywhere with access to electricity.
With more than 4.4 GW of renewable energy, battery storage, and transmission investment available to the grid, the ESOO estimates that rooftop solar alone may supply up to 77 percent of total power demand at times by 2026.
EVs have an average battery range of 480 km but the technology is advancing so rapidly that new models can drive for almost 550 km on a single charge.
