Destiny crossed the paths of these two uniquely talented souls, right here in Sydney, Australia. Tania Nassibian is the beautiful Australian/Greek/Armenian singer/songwriter, and Wayne Sheehy, is the incredible music producer/songwriter. Within 2 months of their encounter, they were working together, writing and developing their sound. They composed 12 songs in 4 weeks in Dublin and in the idyllic seclusion of West Cork, Ireland. Shortly after, they reconvened and recorded their music over a very intense 4 weeks overlooking Dalkey Island in the south of Dublin. Wayne produced the album and played most instruments, it was engineered by Andy Knightley.
DDAAKKUU is potentially the most exciting new brand to consider the Australian market for some time. Its originality and uniqueness in the Australian market is almost enough on its own to gain it major attention, world wide.
Wayne brings an Irish solidity, a high level of skill and a vast experience playing, producing, writing; add this to his professionalism, innovative approach and style and it’s a powerful cocktail. Tania is the ultimate face of the brand DDAAKKUU, her looks, her voice, her writing, her dancing /choreography, her acting and modelling experience and the fact she is multi lingual gives DDAAKKUU a big edge compared to other brands in the same field.
Tania Nassibian is an accomplished singer and recording artist having made two albums for Sony Music Greece. Wayne is internationally renowned as a drummer/ percussionist/ multi-instrumentalist/ producer, and his experience is vast and varied. Ron Wood, The Chieftains, Cactus World News, Amina, Hothouse Flowers, Robert Palmer, to name but a few.
They have come together to combine their different ethnic backgrounds into this fresh sounding cocktail of worlds, words, music and emotions.
DDAAKKUU is Aboriginal for “sandhill” ; Japanese for “embrace”, “entertain” ; in old poetry Malay it means “I”, ”me”, “myself”; in Somali it means "resemblance”, “Do not stop” ; all indigenous languages. The name is a talisman for the project, a name for Tania and a perfect name for this ” music exotica”.
