Pam Readford
Illustrator, animator and animal lover - I create digital and traditional portrait illustrations with distinct character.
Back to my roots today.
(yes, that pun was intended)
With a blank canvas and a line, no expectations, no reference, just drawing & thinking & giving myself permission to make mistakes. Something that's always been a struggle for me in my art practice.
Swamp Wallaby β€οΈ
This beauty lives in the dense understorey of rainforests, woodlands and dry sclerophyll forest along eastern Australia. A unique Australian macropod with a dark black-grey coat and a distinctive light-coloured, gorgeous cheek stripe.
I started work on this in June 2022, (you know, before wedding and honeymoon planning took over my life π
) I am happy to finally call it finished! π·
*** UPDATE ***
Online shop & website overhaul
-------------------------------------
I have been rebuilding my website with a new host - was finding my previous web host completely underwhelming in terms of what I found I could do with the shop content. It had a bit of an old school html look about it and was completely uneditable (I couldn't even change the font?!!) which was not suiting my design goals for how I wanted my business to come across.
I have jumped hosts and have rebuilt my website.
I have plans to add a gallery and a blog/mailing list, but I'm trying to stay a bit realistic and working within manageable goals.
My new shop already looks so refreshing and it's really user friendly. I have added just a few items to the store, and have more in stock to add in the coming weeks.
I'm really excited that my little art business is finally looking and feeling the way I want it to and I'm feeling really hopeful for what the future may bring :)

Natures underappreciated evolutionary genius. I have a morbid fascination with these brood parasites, their shrill calls and their devious activities.
Happy Wrensday.
π The cutest of tiny birds.
I used reference from a slightly blurry photo I took a while back. These guys are so quick, really hard to snap an in-focus piccie of them.
1 hour Photoshop sketch.
Lizards are awesome. I honestly could watch them for hours.
Had a few hours free this morning to sketch this guy from a photo I took a few years back.

I've had a lot of enquiries recently about where to find my cards online and how to buy them. https://preadford.com/store
It's as simple as going to my website and adding your selected cards to the cart! There are paypal and secure payment options available.
Once payment is received I personally pack your order up and send it out to you.
**There are some more designs on their way - but don't worry, I will let you all know when they're released so you won't miss out.**

Meet 'Dixie', a gorgeous old English Staffordshire & my latest pencil on paper commissioned artwork.
This was a gift from a friend of mine to his partner for her birthday, and she absolutely loved it. πβ€οΈ "it's really Dixie!"
I love hearing about how my artwork lights up people's day, it feels awesome. π
Playing around with Adobe Fresco, really nice blending options and the brushes are also really nice. It's a little restrictive, but I can see how it would be great for painting on a tablet/ipad. Still as far as digital painting on the PC goes - I still prefer Photoshop.
Photo reference taken on my trip to Tasmania in 2019
The final of the series is the Ringtail Possum. β€οΈ As a possum carer, I personally have a huge fondness for these sweet and gentle little leaf munchers.
This small series will become a new greeting card series on my website in the coming months AND will be featured by WIRES for special use - so keep your eyes peeled ππ
Third in the series is the blue tongue lizard. Casually sunning himself on a hollow log. π
This is part of my new illustration series celebrating Australian native wildlife.

Second in the series is (of course) the laughing kookaburra.
It's hard to hide that they're one of my favourite Australian birds β€οΈ

First in the series is the Grey Headed Flying Fox.
Flying-foxes play a vital role in keeping our ecosystems in good health. They pollinate flowers and disperse seeds as they forage on the nectar.
Text or no text? What would you like the Greeting cards to say? Happy birthday? Bad animal puns? Let me know your thoughts!
Experimenting with low poly modelling in cinema 4D. I have a dorky love for Wild West themed things π€ π΅
Focusing on flowers - particularly Australian natives. I just love them. π
Today's 3D creation. **sound on**
My partner bought me a switch for Christmas & I'm kind of obsessed. π€
Dipping my toes back into 3D - my last encounter with 3D software was probably at uni.. Some ten + years ago! It's amazing how much basic 3D knowledge I still remember.

Recognise these guys?
I'm so pleased with how this print turned out. And I'm even more pleased to announce that they're now available online at my store!
Send to a loved one or keep it for yourself - no judgement! πππ

As we enter this festive season, we reflect on and celebrate all of the amazing work our WIRES members have achieved over what has proven to be a very challenging year and we are grateful for the ongoing work that lies ahead over the busy summer months, rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing native animals back into their natural habitat.
We would also like to thank you, our passionate and supportive community for sharing in our love for native Australian wildlife.
We wish everyone a safe, happy & healthy festive season and look forward to achieving even more great outcomes for wildlife in 2022 π¦ππ¦

Pam Readford - Home I am an Animation and Graphic Artist based in Sydney, NSW. This is my CV and portfolio website.
Pleased to show off my most recent commission design work for St Ives Public School.
These are the library steps.
Each book spine incorporates artworks drawn by the kids. Really happy to see this one come together. How cute is it?
As you can see though, not all the steps are done. Perhaps a sequel lay on the horizon.
Thanks again to
These look great :)
