Breaking my ankle a couple of months ago was a hurdle I never saw coming.

Not only did I end up needing surgery - I now have a bionic ankle complete with seven screws and a plate to boot 🦿- and damn the pain was bad… mentally I struggled even more.

My number one form of self-care is exercise. And to have that taken away in just quick, very unlucky moment knocked me about more thought it would.

I had to find other ways to set my mind and build myself up each morning, giving myself pep talks in bed, with my ankle elevated 23 hours a day. It forced me to dig deep, practice more patience (something I’ve historically not been very good at 😬) be kinder to myself and actually accept help from others (another thing I’ve never excelled at).

I also lost work, having to pull out of a show as well, which was pretty gutting for me.

It was yet another reminder that we can make all these plans, and it’s all great, but that life throws you curveballs. It was also a reminder though that there are lots of kind people in the world, and that I have so many people in my life who really care about and love me (you all know who you are 🫶🏾).

Here on the shores of Tenerife, as I finally get to walk into the ocean again, I’m filled with immense gratitude 💙

Late last night I found out that my beautiful friend, Kevin Mendoza, had tragically passed away.

Words can’t even begin to encapsulate how heartbroken I am. You brought so much joy to us all, Kev. I love you bro and I’ll cherish our memories forever.
