It’s time to get 🩷PINK🩷 with Rivet’s Shower Edit!
[Purchased with my own money]
P***y Colour 3-in-1 colour depositing shampoo + conditioner in Pinktabulous |
My friend recommended this product to me years ago and I slept on it for a long time, but I ended up buying it when I couldn’t get my regular Manic Panic shade. This is just about the best hot pink hair colour ever. As a hair cleanser, I have no idea, I just use it as a conditioner after washing! It’s a very thick texture and tricky to dispense in the shower, plus it stains everything, but it’s so worth it to easily keep my hair bright without effort.
Crazy Color by Renbow Pink Shampoo for all Pink shades |
I am not 100% impressed with this shampoo because it’s not a very good formula for me. It didn’t lather at all in Melbourne, and Sydney’s water is not much better. It took quite a bit of effort (and a lot more product) to get my hair clean with this shampoo and it still had this residue on it. I know it’s meant to curb colour fading, but it’s just a pink tinted shampoo that doesn’t seem to deposit any colour. I won’t be purchasing this one again.
I got both of these from .

Latergram for the , my favourite pressed powder (and it’s under $20 from Priceline!)
[Purchased with my own money]
Australis are an Aussie institution in makeup, having been on the market for close to 40 years, and their Fresh & Flawless Pressed Powder has been a staple for me for at least a decade - I’ve purchased several and have used it in a lot of makeup looks over the years.
I use the shade “Light Beige”, which is the lightest in the range, but before it was added, I used the shade “Nude”, which was just a touch too dark for me.
The formula is ultra-fine and buttery with a light to medium coverage, which makes it perfect to use as a setting powder over liquid foundations and touch ups during the day. I don’t really wear it on its own, but it works well as a powder foundation if you have oily skin because it has a matte finish and , but don’t be fooled, if you use it with a luminous base, it’ll still come through!

It’s time for an another episode of Rivet Goes Grocery Shopping! |
[PR sample for editorial consideration - no obligation]
Redwin (yes, the sorbelene people!) have dropped a new range of really yummy body lotions in , and all good pharmacies!
☀️Summer Sunshine
This vegan formula, smooths skin with AHAs, Rosehip Oil, Kakadu Plum, Caffeine, and Australian Navel Orange Oil. Scented with a Watermelon and Citrus Blossom fragrance - smells like watermelon candy mixed with lemon and blood orange sorbet. My favourite in the range.
💐Flower Crown
The other vegan formula in the range, nourishes skin with Lavender & Rose Water, Rosehip Oil, and relaxing Evening Primrose Oil. Scented with a Rosewater & Peony fragrance - smells like cucumbers and melon with soft floral notes, not typical of rose, so rose haters will still like it! I have mine next to my bed for night time hand cream.
🏖️Beach Bum
The only non-vegan formula in the range, contains upcycled Marine Collagen to reduce waste, Caffeine, Cocoa Butter, and Australian Sea Salt. Scented with a Toasted Coconut & Salted Caramel fragrance - smells straight up like caramel sundae, but the ice cream is coconut flavoured. Smells good enough to eat (but don’t)!

Chronic pain makes it very hard to travel.
Being able to travel is 100% a privilege afforded only to those who can *afford* it, but being *able* to travel without thinking too hard about it is a privilege afforded only to those who are non-disabled.
Even travelling domestically, on a one hour flight, I managed to flare up both my tendinitis and bursitis from dragging my heavy luggage, to the point where I was in so much pain during my holiday that I spent most of time resting.
Why was my luggage heavy? I had a 5kg urn containing my Dad’s ashes in my suitcase, and funnily enough, the same weight of luggage on my way home filled with stuff I bought. I also was not picked up at accessible pick up point, so I had to schlep my suitcase for several hundred metres from the furthest baggage claim to the other terminal (my own fault for not explaining my needs), and despite wearing my hidden disabilities sunflower lanyard, I did not receive any assistance until I flagged down staff in the terminal. I got lucky that on both flights, I had nobody seated next to me, which saved me money on buying the seat next to mine for comfort.
I cannot imagine what frustration I would end up with if I travel overseas. I can’t travel minimally because I have lots of medications, assistive tech, and specific everyday items that I need to have on me.
Anyway, I probably need steroid injections now, so it’s off to have an ultrasound to see what’s going on.

A few more perfume mists have joined my collection!
[Purchased with my own money]
You’ll have already seen my haul from , but if you haven’t, here are my SDJ picks.
Cheroisa 59 Delícia Drench Perfume Mist (yes, the same one that was a part of the now debunked spider scandal lol)
Family: Woody Gourmand
Notes: Top, Velvet Plum, Sugared Violet; Heart, Vanilla Orchid, Whipped Amber; Base, Sheer Sandalwood, Fresh Vetiver
This reminds me a bit of Tuca Tuca from Lush, but it’s more vanilla forward than floral with a sweet finish. Think more of parma violet candies meets vanilla frosting.
Cheroisa 48 Perfume Mist - NEW DROP
Family: Floral Fruity Gourmand
Notes: Top, Guava Nectar, Coconut Water; Heart, Sunlit Orchid, Lemon Twist, Wild Orris; Base, Pink Musk, Vanilla Cloud
Originally called “Bikini Season”, its relaunch as Cheroisa 48 straight up smells like tropical cordial and I absolutely love it!

It was my birthday two weeks ago and I hated every moment of it because it was my first birthday without my Dad. I got dressed up for dinner anyway.
I did a wear test of the BeautyScreen in shade 2 (PR) and set it with a lighter powder. It stayed on quite well for the 3 hours I had it on. The only issue I had was with needing coverage on my nose because of a giant zit. I went in with concealer and powder, but it just separated.
I used “The Eyeshadow Palette” (also PR) on my eyes and went in with the deeper shades. I did not inherit Dad’s hazel eyes, so I can wear almost any colour of eyeshadow and my eyes still *pop*.
Anyway, I’m 36 now. Hoorah.

I swatched all the Embodiment Blush shades (my favourite is Gemma) and ended up purchasing a travel sized Holme Base Primer in Bling.

RIVET’S TRAVEL EDIT | Bodycare & Fragrance Edition
It was a no-brainer on what I wanted to bring with me, some of my bodycare and fragrance favourites.
Body Wash: QV Ceramides Cleanser - I have repurchased this numerous times because it’s truly a Rivet Fave, replacing the previously beloved QV Gentle Wash. I can also use this as a face wash if I run out of the other.
Hand Cream/Body Lotion: Dermal Therapy Very Dry Skin Lotion - I initially bought this for my Dad’s extremely dry chemo skin, but he didn’t finish it before he passed, so I’ve been using it up. I decanted it into a small pump bottle to keep by my bedside.
Body Mist: Sol De Janeiro Cheroisa 62 Pistachio & Salted Caramel - you’re all probably very sick of me talking about this already, but this was the body mist I chose because it’s not as strong as a perfume, plus it’s small and travel friendly.
Perfume: Eilish by Billie Eilish No.3 EDP - I love this fragrance, another easy Rivet Fave. I decanted this into a small spray bottle.
Bonus: I purchased the SDJ Cheroisa 59 and brand new Cheroisa 48 perfume mists while at Chadstone, and a silicone body brush from !

RIVET’S TRAVEL EDIT | Haircare Edition
I contemplated about what I was going to bring with me hair wise, because I don’t want to mess up my Aunty’s bathroom with pink dye, so I chose my haircare very carefully to maintain my bright pink hair and also to keep it in top shape.
Scalp Treatment: Alpha H Healthy Scalp Exfoliating Treatment* - my scalp needs its fix and this is one that has become a Rivet Fave.
Shampoo: (via ) Crazy Color Pink Shampoo for all PINK shades - I haven’t tried this before, but a shampoo is a shampoo, so I’m giving this a go to maintain the pink without staining the bathroom.
Conditioner: Garnier Fructis Nourishing Banana Hair Food 3-in-1 (old packaging) - this is such a good conditioner and it’s even suitable for fine hair.
Hair Treatment: K18 Biomimetic Hairscience Leave-in Molecular Repair Hair Mask - I swear by this stuff more than any bond multiplier treatment, I’ve had it for nearly a year and with regular use, my bleached within-an-inch-of-its-life hair is kept in great condition (I also have the Molecular Repair Hair Oil with me, but I didn’t add it to this edit because I decided to pack it after the fact).
Hot Styling Tool: VS Sassoon Keratin Protect Hair Straightener (discontinued) - I got this on sale somewhere a while back and it’s no longer available, but it’s a decent flat iron for my hair (I use it on 180C because my hair is very fine).
Go-To Hair Brush: WetBrush Original Detangler Mini Happy Llama* - I have the regular one in my bathroom, so this lives in my bag and it’s such a great little thing for its size the way it glides through wet hair gently and with ease.
Bonus last minute addition: Bodyguard Heat Protect Spray

RIVET’S TRAVEL EDIT | Skincare
I am away for a week in Naarm/Melbourne and since I don’t travel often, I don’t get to do these kinds of edits, but I want to share what skincare I brought with me (I had to decant some of it into smaller containers, not lugging around full size stuff, haha).
Cleanser: Gunk Off Hydrating Gel Cleanser* - just using it up and I’ll probably run out while there, but I have plenty of stuff from an upcoming post if I need extra.
Micellar Water: Garnier Micellar Hyaluronic Aloe Water - my tried and true Rivet Fave.
Face Cream: QV Ceramides Moisturising Cream* - it’s winter and my skin is so thirsty, so I opted for something a little bit heavier and non-greasy.
Face Oil: Bondi Sands Wonder Potion Hero Oil - sometimes I swap out moisturiser for face oil, but I also use this on my cuticles for extra nourishment.
Serum: Alpha H Vitamin B Serum* - I am loving this blue baby, so it’s coming with me.
Spot Treatments: Skin Control AM-PM Pimple Patch and Dermal Therapy Acne Spot Cream* - a variety of pimple patches to wear if my skin decides to misbehave and something to prevent said misbehaviour in the first place.
SPF: Naked Sundays CabanaClear Water Gel Serum SPF50* - even in winter, I’m still going for the high SPF, and this is a new one I get to try (and I’m excited).

I bravely tried to break them in to wear to x exhibition in Darlinghurst last week with my (radio) partner in crime, , and while they need a bit more work to get to optimal comfort, it was well worth it to get to see this incredible photographs that have never been displayed publicly until now! Guess who got a makeover?! |
[PR sample for editorial consideration - affliate code below]
Alpha H launched their best selling acid toner, Liquid Gold, over 25 years ago and it has now had its first major packaging upgrade in that time by transitioning to 100% post consumer recycled plastic packaging. It also now boasts an easy-to-open ergonomic lid, so that even the most arthritic hands can open it with ease. This Spoonie approves!
The powerhouse classic Liquid Gold formula has remained the same with a combination of exfoliating 5% Glycolic Acid, hydrating Silk Proteins & Glycerine, plus brightening Liquorice Root Extract to gently resurface lacklustre skin and bring out a healthy looking glow.
I remember using Liquid Gold about a decade ago when I was first introduced to chemical exfoliation. I was surprised at how gentle it was and it did help with brightening my complexion. My skin is very different now, so I am keen to give it another go sometime soon.
Want to try it yourself? Get 20% off with code “LARA20” on the Alpha-H store.

Eilish No.3 EDP by Billie Eilish is here! |
[Purchased with my own money]
finally got the much awaited limited edition third fragrance from .
Fragrance family: Woody AmberTop notes: Sparkly Grapefruit, Pink Peppercorn & JasmineHeart notes: Spicy Saffron, Fresh Fir Needle & Creamy CedarBase notes: Velvety Amber, Earthy Oakmoss & Skin Musk
This perfume starts off slightly sweet and citrusy with a touch of spiciness before mellowing out into gentle floral forest notes. I don’t think it has the staying power of the other two in the collection, but it stands on its own as a fresh option if you don’t like things too sweet or smokey.
I heard rumours that it was similar to Baccarat Rouge 540, but I recall that one to be far sweeter, to the point of being candy-like. The notes are also similar to SDJ Cheroisa 68 (again, far less sweet), Mulger Alien, Clean Reserve Amber Saffron, and, I could be making this up, but ELdO Jasmin et Cigarette, especially if you were to layer No.3 with No.2.
Billie’s nose is my nose, so I’m very happy with No.3, even if it may blend in with the array of woody amber fragrances on the market (or already in my collection).

I’m kind of slowly getting back to posting content, so why not start out with a shower edit?
[Part PR sample/part purchased with my own money]
Gunk Off Hydrating Gel Cleanser with Niacinamde & Cucumber [PR Sample]
A small Aussie Biz that really has taken off (no pun) in my shower is Gunk Off with their gel cleanser. Being cold, it has a more gelatinous texture than it should, but it works all the same to cleanse my face without stripping the life out of it (I’ll let the hot water do that!). I am really pleased with this product as my winter gel cleanser. While it has no added fragrance, it has a faint aroma from the Cucumber extract.
Everyday by Frank Body Clearing Body Wash with Salicylic Acid
I have already finished this one, but since this edit has been sitting in my “to-post” line up for a while, I can actually give my full thoughts. It smells amazing with the woody citrus fragrance that reminds me of Lush’s Happy Hippy scent. It doesn’t lather very well, which is my only issue, but it has kept my back clear over the cooler months!
[ID: Cutout of a beige squeeze tube with a light brown snap lid in the top right corner and a bright coral red round bottomed cylindrical bottle with a black pump top in the bottom left, superimposed on a stock photo of a shower in the background, with a pink/purple/white watercolour splatter textured textile background as the border. TW: Death
On the 17th June 2024, we said goodbye to my Dad, Josef, after he spent the past year undergoing treatment for metastatic pancreatic cancer. He made it to the one year mark and passed peacefully, without any pain, surrounded by family and close friends.
I would like to thank everybody who reached out to us with love and support. As you all have noticed, I haven’t posted much lately, except photos of Dad on stories, and this is a note that I’ll be taking an extended break from content for a while.
I would like to honour him by raising money for .aus, a charity that makes dreams come true for adults living with metastatic and advanced cancer. They granted his dream of a holiday to Naarm/Melbourne to see his sister back in February (he actually made it back there for her birthday in early June). I won’t be participating in their Dry July campaign this year, but I will be hosting fundraisers independently. Please donate if you are able.
Extending a huge thanks to following;

Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Centre
Cancer Council
