We get so caught up in politics, opinions and granular issues that we forget EXACTLY how lucky we are living in this country.

As an immigrant to this country, it’s not lost on me that my family could have been anywhere else in the world and I thank the stars ( the southern cross stars ) that we are here.

There are major reasons for my gratitude of country, being, raising a family & running businesses here. I’d like to say we are the ‘Lucky’ country, but it’s not luck, it’s hard work from every single Australian with sense of national community and commitment to growing and evolving this Great Nation into a flourishing country for the next generation.

1️⃣Democracy - I value equality under the law, freedom of speech & expression, human rights and fundamental freedoms that allow everyone to live their lives in the way they choose. You have the freedom under the law to live without discrimination of your creed, age, gender, race, religion or sexual orientation.Democracy is our strength and finding the fine balance between innovating new ways of doing things while preserving the traditions we value.

2️⃣Safety - We do not have active wars happening on our soil, we have very little gun violence, we don’t have an opiod epidemic, people can walk freely, knowing the have protection under the law. We don’t have terror attacks and civil wars. We outlawed torture, death penalty and over the top prison sentences and replaced with rehabilitation, programs, medical facilities and human rights foundations to protect even the most heinous people. We have regulations that means there is a standard of living and business, so people can’t put a dodgy house together or deliver sub par dangerous goods or have under qualified surgeons practicing.

3️⃣Prosperity - Although the cost of living right now is insane, in comparison to the globe, we benefit from a tight rope balance of capitalist free markets while having social safety nets in Medicare, social programs, schools, pensions and welfare. You can choose to start a business and have it registered in 20mins or choose to work part time or be a stay at home parent. We have a better state of life due to economy being able to support everyone on their individual choice and needs. Everyone has access to a baseline level of education, medical care and community programs for food, security and services.

4️⃣Freedom of a choice and Speech - You can choose to disagree, protest, argue and vote in any way you choose without fear of imprisonment of you or your family. You can hold wildly different opinions on parenting, religion, medical care, the government, the climate, the economy and the environment - you have the freedom to criticise, object, speak and debate with anyone particularly government. It is your right to speak freely. Freedom of the press, means you can read and source information from where ever you want without the government not limiting or censoring or restricting your access, like other countries.

5️⃣Weather and beautiful landscapes -
We forget how lucky we are with our weather. You can camp, 4wd, swim, hike, go out on boats, play sport, parachute, rock climb, trek through deserts, explore the rainforest, inspect caves, ski the snow slopes, find opals, gold, diamonds and examine natural resources, you can go for walks in the morning, paddles in dams and lakes, traverse a mountain and stroll through a city. Because of the climate and nature we aren’t stuck inside waiting for the rain to stop we can spend our time, spend our time travelling and experiencing new surroundings.
We have some of the most stunning beaches in the world, the Great Barrier Reef, Daintree Rainforest, the Kimberley’s, Uluṟu, Broome, Cape York, the Great Ocean Road, the Grampians, The 12 Apostles, The Barossa Valley, Hunter region, w Mountains, Margaret River, Rottnest island, Sydney Harbour and more.

So while this country isn’t perfect, it will always have its problems, I’m feeling so lucky that we are here and you are too.
Today as Australia Day isn’t about a date, it’s an idea, it’s a concept, it’s a gratitude, it’s coming together, whether you were born here or chose to move here.
For one day, I like that we come together, we come together under the Australian flag and appreciate this country we call home and pledge to uphold those values in honour of people past and present who defend it and raise the next generation to protect it.

The reason Moir Organics began was because of my son.

He HAD extreme eczema,we were in hospital at least once a week,
I had to quit my full time job,
He had staph ALL the time.
He suffered from a dependence on steroid and cortisone creams.

It was absolutely the hardest time of our lives.

This is where the Moir organics range began.
It wasn’t for profit.

It was trying trying to find a solve for my son with eczema
We created it.

We tried ever over the counter products,

Skin issues are always in connection to gut health.

However, I truly believe eczema and skin issues are about 65% of emotional regulation.
