Hi, Fran & Frank here. The names, we know, you just can’t make that up. 🐾

We’re the proud owners of Right Start Pet Food and our passion is PETS HEALTH. 🐱🐶

We became actively involved with the wellness of dogs in 2006 although our journey as registered breeders of the Cane Corso breed started back in 1998.

After seeing the need for a product that supported the health of all dogs we decided to research and source premium quality raw whole food for our own pets and puppies to come!.

🚚 After offering consultations to pet owners and free dietary advice to the community, we decided it was time to officially launch our own brand of pet food that began to reach households nationwide.

Such a pleasure working with Gunner the 6 month old Great Dane with beautiful merle colouring. We worked on Gunners dog reactivity and made huge improvements over the session resulting in a calm and more focused puppy which ceased reacting. With continued repetitions, Gunner will be a socially neutral dog able to be calm and confident in any environment 🐾❤️

We had an absolute blast 💥 working with Malik and Fallon from Amari Boerboels with their owner and handler.

These dogs continuously bring new and improved dynamics to the session and develop very quickly showing thick nerves, hard mouths, excellent grip mechanics and a fantastic, confident yet calm temperament through all stages of training.

They are exceptionally balanced dogs being both fearsome guardians and loving members of the family 🐾❤️ serious once activated then loving and affectionate once deactivated.

These dogs surprise me every time we work with them.

It was a sunny afternoon out with Bacon the AmStaff and his family working on leash skills, communication and dog reactivity ☺️ small changes yielded huge results with Bacon being a very calm boy around multiple trigger points. Well done Bacon! 🐾🎉

What a beautiful morning it was working with Lucy (Lulu) and her family helping her to work past her inquisitive dislike of drains and working on leash skills, communication and basic obedience 😊

We started slow but quickly tapped in to Ouranos' inherent drive last night 💥 this GSD is on a path to great things, getting in major milestones during his first session 🐾❤️

We had an awesome time yesterday working with Morpheus the Giant AmStaff - one look at his paws and you know he's going to be a big boy! At just 7 months he's already bigger than other AmStaffs I've worked with ☺️ this was Morpheus' second session and he really has come a long way in a short space of time. Naturally he behaves like a puppy but when the leash is on he is by your side cruising on a walk and completely non-reactive to other dogs. Well done Morpheus! You're making your mum and dad proud!

Developing leash skills, addressing reactivity and creating GRC with Floki was a pleasure yesterday. At 7 months old, Floki is going to be a big boy and is a very inquisitive pup.

It was a pleasure working with a very intense but controlled Zeus 'the flying fur missile' on some advanced obedience and guard and protection work. Watch this space as this is a very talented working dog with great things to come, he is currently 9 months old but has the nerves of a 2 year old 💥🎉 Zeus' owner and handler has put in a lot of foundation work and is highly committed to the working breed being Belgian Malinois 🙏

Feeding Guide

PUPPIES until 12 months old
- 3-5% of body weight split into 3 meals a day.

ADULTS
- 2-3% of body weight feeding once daily.
- Fasting 1-2 day per week. Only water allowed on fasting days

FEEDING GUIDE
Adult Dogs
The recommended amount for raw feeding a healthy, adult dog is 2-3% of their body weight per day.
It is generally recommended to feed small breed adult dogs a smaller meal twice per day, rather than one large feeding. Large breed dogs can eat once per day and preferably at night.

Puppies
Puppies have increased nutritional needs to meet the demands of their growing bodies. Puppies under 12 months of age should be fed approximately 5% of their body weight per day.
Divide the total daily allowance of 3 meals for puppies under 6 months of age; and into 2 meals for puppies aged from 6 months onwards.
How to calculate to work out your dogs's daily feeding requirements, multiply their weight by 2-3%, or 5% for puppies.
Example: To calculate what to feed a 7.6kg small breed, if working on a ration of 3% of their body weight:
7.6kg x 0.03 (3%) = 0.228
This means feeding 228 grams per day, divided into 2 meals of 114 grams each.
Approximate calorie consumption recommended for a 10kg dog = 400 calories per day.
