Gday guys! Apologies for the poor video quality on this video but i wanted to quickly capture it as not many people know this about Green Pythons, as you can see the end of the tail is a completely different colour to the rest of the snake! Most people are familiar with our species of Death Adders and their tails acting as a lure to attract potential prey items to come within striking range, well these guys have adapted the same behaviour! Young Green Pythons like this guy here will perch up on a small sapling of a night time in their typical posture with their heads facing down towards the rainforst floor using that tail to attract a small skinks or gecko and trick them into beliving its food and once the prey item is in striking range bang! They strike out grab it coil it and the job is done! Such interesting facts can really make people fall in love with all different species!
