We’ve hit busy season hard this year.
Going from sparse weeks, to working 24/7 for the next few months.

This means I’m trying to find time for myself and my family in amongst everything else, which is already proving to be difficult.

With this being said, my responses to emails and messages is more delayed than most would be used to from me.

Please know, I will respond as soon as I have an admin day (today), because I am trying to limit being on my phone and replying all day, even while with my kids.

You just rock up on your booked date, and there will be a jumping castle with balloons, shimmer wall with a neon and balloons, candy cart (candy not provided), and a plinth for your cake: already in the venue at your starting time, so you can spend more of your time celebrating, rather than setting up!

Hello hello!

I'm Jessica, one half of Hastings Haus. I am the main point of contact for HH and most likely the one you are talking to in messages and will meet during your viewing and/or event.

My husband and I took a chance on this space at the end of 2023 and are so happy we did.

We are a small family with two daughters (7 & 5), and plenty of experience in the wedding and event industry.

I'm a professional photographer, focusing on weddings and commercial photography (with a little bit of family sessions thrown in the mix).

We're so honoured to be able to provide Townsville with such a gorgeous space; the perfect picturesque location for weddings and general events (work functions, fundraisers, birthdays etc).
Bonus, you wont need a bad weather back up, as we are the option 🥳

We are an empty hire (we say empty, but we already have a few furniture options to use at no additional cost), with BYO food and drink options, or hire your favourite vendors to come and celebrate with you!

We have so many big plans for Hastings Haus, but these plans will take time. We hope you can follow along with us and watch us grow.

We’re logging off for the Easter long weekend.

We will be uncontactable until Monday 1st April; due to no reception. This also means we will have no viewings available over the long weekend.

Common Questions:

Our maximum capacity is 100 pax

1. Is the hire fee different for mid-week or other months in the year?
No, there is no price difference for different days of week or times of year.

2. Does the venue allow us to hold both ceremony and reception on-site?
You can definitely do so as long as your vendors are available in between to change set up.

3. What is the deposit and when is this due?
30% of total amount invoiced at time of booking.

4. What is the cancellation policy?
If you’d like to go ahead, you will receive the contract which we can send through that has all the information regarding.
Plainly, if you cancel due to no fault of Hastings Haus, you forfeit your deposit and any other payments on top of deposit are refunded back to you.

5. Do you have a list of suggested/preferred vendors?
We are still doing this list up.

6. Is there an inclement weather contingency plan?
We are an indoor venue so we are usual the contingency plan for outdoor spaces.

7. Is there a private space if we need some alone time or want to store personal items?
You can spend your time downstairs near the entry in the communal hallway while your guests are upstairs.

8. Where can guests park, and is there accessible parking available?
Along flinders and surrounding streets, there is also a large multi-storey carpark behind our building which is a 2 minute walk to the front of Hastings.
Vendors and bridal party can park at back entry of the building on Ogden St.

9. What time can we access the venue on the day?
From the time you book from.

10. Can we have access to the venue prior to the day for rehearsal/set up?
Access is only granted for the times you hire, if you would like longer hire times/or seperate date to the wedding, you would need to hire for that time also.

11. What time is last drinks/curfew?
1AM, and if you have not hired for 24 hour hire, all personal items need to be removed from the venue by 1AM at the latest.

12. Does the venue have its own décor inventory?
We have a small selection of black/white metal chairs, tressel tables and others items, but most would be more suited for general events. We cannot guarantee more options of inventory prior to your wedding day.

13. Are there any restrictions on styling the space?
No restrictions, if you are looking at hanging from the beams, we are just require to be on site.

14. Does the venue have its own sound system/mic?
We have a small speaker system for localised music play (Spotify etc)
We recommend hiring a musician for the space and they bring their own equipment if not using personal playlists.

15. Are there any noise restrictions?
Not necessarily, just general kindness (no opening windows to blare music down the street etc)

16. What items are banned from use e.g. confetti/candles/poppers/sparklers/smoke machine/dry ice?
No sparklers inside premises.

17. What are the catering options?
We do not cater, that would come under catering vendors.
Michels catering is one of the top caterers for Townsville and one we would recommend for the space.

18. Is there a minimum charge for food and beverages (if offered)?
No bar/alcohol provided.

19. Can we BYO food or beverages/vendors?
Yes, we are a dry hire, so you are hiring the space, and use of any of our items if you wish in your charge, all alcohol and food can either be BYO or you can hire your own vendors to provide.

We are still here, just working away behind the scenes!

We can’t wait to see all you amazing people who have booked in Hastings Haus for your event this year, and for those to come in 2025.

We have some birthdays coming up soon, along with some branding photoshoots for some new businesses.

Books are open for 2024/25 at the moment.

With school looming just around the corner, we’re taking some time as a family to prepare to have all school aged kiddies this year!

I can see emails and responses building up, and I will be responding back to them all today.

Reminder:

24th - 28th January, we are out of town and won’t be on responses as frequently as usual.

Additionally there will be no viewing options over those dates as well.

So many birthday party bookings are coming in for 2024!

We can’t wait to show you the variety that our space can accomodate when it comes to styling and ages.

General event bookings for 2024 are still at their discounted price of $100 per hour, with a 4 hour minimum booking!

August/September/October are always extremely busy wedding months, which means enquiries for same dates are coming in almost daily.

When looking at securing vendors, unfortunately dates cannot be held for a prolonged amount of time without securing via contracts/deposits.

If you are considering us for your wedding/event this year and have been sent a link to secure your date, please ensure that is finished as soon as possible.

We hate cancelling requests, but we have had to do a few.

As a small business, there’s no guarantee after time you will decide to secure the date (as ghosting on responses is quite a frequent thing in this industry) so we need to go with the booking that is ready to go.

In summary, book in quick - with ANY wedding vendor, as this industry is tough for both the clients and the business owners.

REMINDER

If you have been sent your booking link and have not paid your deposit/signed contract, you are not secured in for your date.

Please ensure you are prompt with securing your booking, as we are getting a number of enquiries through each day.

Just a reminder to all,

Unfortunately our venue only has one point of access via these stairs from the foyer section.

We will have a small seating space on the landing for people who struggle with the steps to sit and have a rest.

We will be hosting two open days this week - unfortunately not as extravagantly as our last one, but I will be down at Hastings Haus with the doors open to view the entire space.
