On the eve of RIBL SEASON 2, the long awaited report cards have dropped!

Taking into account draft day and roster changes, as well as preseason form, there's sure to be some controversial gradings 👀

The Honey Badgers top the class, after a dominant preseason with an impressive RIB DAY CUP win.
The Spartans look to be the big mover from last season (the only way is up), while the Wild Boars have left fans with some nerves going into the season.

Playing pick up basketball is our favourite way to hoop at RIB!

When we met with Amal from Jump Ball, we both decided we needed to create a space and opportunity for women to be able to play pick up basketball.

So every fortnight, on a Wednesday at 7PM you're invited to come join us!

We are amending our policies and now granting members up to three months of holds per year for their membership. Reasons include:

Last night RIB LEAGUE was turned on its head with the Season 2 draft.

All Stars changed teams, Young Guns found new homes and a bunch of talent was relocated. The league could not look more competitive and the race for the Season 2 RIB LEAGUE Trophy is wide open.

RIB Day Cup & Media Day: March 24

Meet the 6’9 Sudanese Sensation, Emmanuel Malou. Above the rim, behind the 3 point line and on either end of the floor, Malou always finds a way to impact the game.

The lead up to Season 2 saw the RIB LEAGUE captains ‘standing on business’.

With every player on their team statistically ranked, captains were given the option to protect up to 5 players, with the caveat that by protecting a player, they forfeited the corresponding round pick based on their rank.

This lead to tactical decisions, and a mentality of ‘no friends in the business’. Captains hoped to draft some of their players in later rounds, while others felt that the draft pool was too enticing and their team needed a change.

The scenes of the Greyhounds carrying the Trophy in Season 1 have truly meant captains are ready to go all in for glory.

RIB LEAGUE SEASON AWARDS 🎖️

Our 9 captains came together and placed their votes to decide our award recipients for RIB LEAGUE S01.

MVP: Chayse Pinono
Our unanimous MVP, Chayse lead the Honey Badgers to the number 1 seed, averaging 20.3/6.8/3.7, with 2.7 steals and 0.7 blocks all in a blistering 58% from the field!

DPOY: Chep Malic
The young giant, Chep dominated the defensive end anchoring the Wolverines to the 2nd seed with 9.1 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.4 blocks a game.

SPOY: Jeff Zaldivia
Our spark plug of the year required a player with under 24 minutes per game. Jeff Zaldivia, the oldest player in the league turned back the clock, bringing the energy every night as well as the wisdom.
Jeff averaged 5.9/2.7/1.9 with 1.0 steals a game in just 22 minutes, shooting an elite 63% from 2 and 67% from 3.

RIB League Semi-Finals

2 games… one better than the other.

Honey Badgers clinched a Finals Berth with a scrappy but well earned win against the Grim Reapers who did not back down and went to the line 21 times to keep them in the game.💀

Greyhounds will be meeting the badgers in the Grand Final after an impressive hot start. Never taking their foot of the gas. The Wolverines now dream of what could’ve been from Cancun.

We’ll see you next week for a fun evening of challenges, Grand Final and All Star game! Dec 3rd 4:30pm start.

RIB League Play-In Games Results

2 teams clinched semis. With top performances from Brent and Noah on their teams.

2 teams came up short. Panthers did not have a fair fight against death with only 2 of their normal starting 5 making an appearance.

Outlaws came out gunslinging but unfortunately will be putting their guns in the holster until next season. Enjoy Cancun fellas.
