I am beyond excited to share with you all that Red Dirt Robotics is partnering with Creality Australia in 2024 to make 3D Printing as accessible as possible across remote Australia!

I bought my first 3D printer from Creality way back in 2019 and would never have thought that just a few years later, one of the worlds biggest printer companies would be working alongside me.

2024 is set to be a massive year for Red Dirt Robotics, so make sure you watch this space!

After visiting One Arm Point Remote Community School two weeks ago, I couldn’t wait to come back up to give them their box of goodies that didn’t arrive in time for my first visit. Thanks to a grant I received from and , I was able to work with the students and teachers to set them up with what will become a flog and sustainable STEM club!

I am really grateful to have had the chance to give such an incredible school this opportunity. Thanks to the grant, OAPRCS now have three rovers, a ender 3 3d Printer and a few rolls of filament to get them started on their journey in robotics.

I’m looking forward to providing more opportunities like this in the future.

National Science Week has launched!
Thanks to an Inspiring Western Australia grant, the amazing Jameson Red Dirt Robotics is running 3D design and printing sessions for Broome kids all week at the Broome Public Library!!
All of our sessions are booked out, with a wait list. However, a number of kids are sick this week, so please, if you have booked a session and can't make it, either cancel your booking in Trybooking or let the library staff know, and we can open a spot to someone on the wait list.

Here’s a little story for your Wednesday morning!

A little bit over a year ago, I traveled to Canberra for the Trailblazer Summit, where along with my fellow Trailblazers, we got to share the stories of the awesome things we were all doing in regional Australia.

The summit was centred around telling these stories in Parliament House to a big group of government officials, department leaders and pretty much a whole bunch of important people.

This summit was where I met Georgie from Aviatrix Australia, and the beginning of our master plan to work with each other.

After all of our presentations there was a networking session, where a lady from the crowd handed me this sticky note saying “I would love to see a partnership between and Red Dirt Robotics” and Georgie and myself had been hard at work trying to figure out how we could make it happen.

I am beyond stoked to finally say it’s happening! Just over a week after opening EOIs for our QLD tour, we have already surpassed the minimum number of schools I was hoping to work with.

Watch this space!

!BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!
After a rocky start to 2023 full of personal, professional and mechanical setbacks, I’m happy to finally announce some good news for Red Dirt Robotics.

The Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation has awarded Red Dirt Robotics with a $50,000 grant to carry out three months of work all around regional and remote Queensland in 2023! The funding from this grant will be used to build capacity in schools and organisations where access high quality training and resources is limiting their ability to educate our next generation of young engineers.

As well as this, I will be adding drones to the repertoire of Red Dirt Robotics workshop options, alongside Micromelon Robotics and 3D printing classes, creating a one stop shop for all things STEM. I am super excited (and very very grateful!) to have been given this opportunity to create more opportunities for young people all over QLD.

I’ll be announcing more details in the next few weeks, like the awesome collaboration I have lined up 👀👀, so definitely watch this space! In the meantime, spread the word among your networks so this opportunity won’t be missed.

If you’re anywhere between Birdsville and Bamaga, Red Dirt Robotics will be coming to a town near you!

Yesterday I was lucky enough to be a part of the NextGen Youth STEM Symposium where leaders in education and innovation explored how we could best engage more Territory teens in STEM. The event held at the Darwin Innovation Hub was live streamed to Alice Springs where I tuned in from, alongside many other Central Australian change makers.

After listening to talks from the likes of Dr Karl and Ed Husic MP, we had the opportunity to brainstorm ways on how best to tackle the challenge of engaging youth in STEM. It’s no surprise that a program like Red Dirt Robotics was seen as the quickest, easiest and most effective way to get kids excited to learn about STEM. Even groups up in Darwin who have never heard of me described my exact model as the way to go! I’m doing it, and it works!

Some key take aways from the day were:

- 3/5 Territory teachers don’t feel confident enough to teach digital technologies

- There will be a 15% yearly growth for jobs in the cyber space

- Youth are an investment! We will only get out what we put in

I am really excited to have been a part of an event that will likely shape how students in the Territory access, engage and learn about STEM, and am even more excited to see the results.

Thank you to the Northern Territory Government Business Innovation division for putting on such a fantastic and pivotal event.

Swipe for a pic of the troopy back in the wild!

Red Dirt Robotics 2022… What a year it’s been!

After nearly 9 months living on the road travelling across Outback Australia, I have finally made it back to my home on the Sunshine Coast! So with that, it brings my tour to an end for 2022.

This year has been one wild adventure full of highs and lows, long days on the road and plenty of legends met along the way.

I owe a massive thank you to all my sponsors and partners who have made this project possible and supported me along the way. , Kennelly Constructions, and SAGE Automation for providing me with the gear and supporting my running costs to help get me to the farthest reaches of the country. Thank you to and for guiding and mentoring me when problems came up, and helping me share my story with the nation (and just being the legends that you are!).

There is a lot of support that goes on behind closed doors to make Red Dirt Robotics a reality, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without it.

Here are some figures from the tour:

- 35,000kms travelled (about 20 of them by the kids who stole the troopy!)
- 2 States and 2 Territories
- Approximately 600 young engineers impacted
- Most expensive diesel: $2.60 in Boulia (did not like that fill up)

Red Dirt Robotics isn’t ending here, I have big plans for next year that I’ll be telling you all about soon! So look out, Red Dirt Robotics might be coming to a town near you!

Next week is National Science Week right across Australia, and it just wouldn’t have been right if I didn’t get involved. So I’ve partnered with the Public Library to run 5 awesome free workshops over the course of the week!

To all the big kids out there, have no fear, as I will be running an adults course on Friday the 19th! So come and check it out!

How will you be getting involved for ?

The day has come where my troopy has been stolen. It was taken from a secure carpark in an industrial estate near Darwin at 3:00am June 27th.

As you know, this is more than a car. It is my home, and it holds all of my living gear, and more importantly my teaching gear.

10 Laptops, 10 robots and a whole heap of other resources had all been taken.

If anyone is able to provide me with any information, I would greatly appreciate it.

What a week! I was lucky enough to have spent the last week with the most incredible group of young Aussies at the Trailblazer Youth Summit in Canberra.

During my time in Canberra, I had the privilege to stand up in Parliament House and share my story about Red Dirt Robotics, and the future of our regional young engineers.

This is just the beginning of my journey, and I can’t wait to see where it will take me!

There are too many legends to tag, so hit the ABC Heywire Website to read all about the other Trailblazers and their awesome projects!

It was so great to meet Senator Dorinda Cox in Parliament House yesterday while speaking for the ABC Heywire Trailblazer program. I can’t wait until I am over in WA!

Meet Eleanor and Jameson, two of the winners of ABC's Trailblazers program for 2022!

Today, at Parliament House I had the chance to meet them & hear about the amazing work they're doing to empower young people across regional communities around Australia!

Jameson, from Gubbi Gubbi Country, is about to set on a year long road trip across Northern Australia, teaching skills across STEM subjects that are usually only accessible to those in the major cities.

Eleanor, from Tommeginne Country is providing the coaching and resources to assist other young people to begin their dream careers in regional areas, so young people aren't being left with no choice but to move away from their home towns!

It was so refreshing to see all of the tireless work that's been put in by these young people to strengthen communities across the regions and I'm left with so much hope and excitement to see what comes next.

If young people are the future, we're in good hands!
