Our TOUGHEST OPPONENTS in sport usually have the same characteristics. They're typically:
β HIGHLY SKILLED: they are technically very sound & can perform a variety of fundamental skills very well...
β FAST: they get their body organised quickly and can move in all directions with great speed...
β STRONG: they can establish & maintain position very well, they make it very difficult for you to make position, and they can still perform skills very well through contact...
β SMART: they have a high game I.Q.. They seem to know exactly what to do and where to go at just the right times...
So we know what "tough" opponents are like.
We know what makes them difficult to play against.
Invest more time & energy in more of the things that make YOU the tough opponent...
β‘οΈ Skills are vital, keep working on them, but they're not the only thing!..
ππ»ββοΈπββοΈ MOVEMENT IS A SKILL, treat it that way. Learn to move well, move often, learn to move fast!..
πͺGET STRONGER. Strength will not only make you faster and hard to move on the field/court, it supports you getting better at everything else. It will allow you to train your for your sport at higher intensity, for longer, more often.
THAT is how your skills really improve...
π¬ STUDY YOUR SPORT. Spend time watching your games, watch your opponents, watch the professionals/elites of your sport, but watch them analytically.
Don't just watch highlights!
Get to really know the decisions, movements & skills that consistently lead to scoring and good defensive plays...
We know what makes a TOUGH OPPONENT. Do more of that stuff!
Great to have some of our U16 boys in to our DBA program last night.
We reviewed some
PREPARATION & RECOVERY techniques and how STRENGTH plays a HUGE role in their goals to play high level sport.

COVID isolation is testing what athletes are really like. It's a very difficult time, absolutely it is. Our eventual return to sport will clearly show which athletes are genuine about their desire to improve and which just talk about it...
Typically, what we're like when nobody is watching, eventually becomes obvious when they are...

Flexibilty, mobility and viewing movement as a SKILL comes before adding strength, speed or power...
Passing, kicking and shooting are all skills we practice regularly to improve.
Running, jumping and landing are also skills we should practice regularly to improve...

The centrepiece of any athletic development program (and therefore our logo) is building strength.
Whether it is increasing our athletes' ability to:
- absorb more force
- express more force
- change direction more safely and quickly
- build a physical foundation for the journey toward a higher level of sport
- or to simply be able to handle their typical sporting workload easier,
building some variety of STRENGTH IS KEY...
Once our athletes move well, we introduce the key WHATs, HOWs and WHYs of strength.
We provide our athletes WHAT exercises to do and HOW to do them safely and effectively.
The real power lies in the WHY.
