With the cooler weather well and truly here, it can be very tempting to turn up the temperature in the shower.

However, hot showers can be harmful not only to your skin but also to your hair. Scalding water can strip your scalp and strands, causing your scalp to overproduce oil, break protein bonds, and damage the hair cuticle. ⚠️🥵

Washing your hair with warm (not hot) water helps stimulate hair follicles and clean buildup on the scalp. To finish off the routine, rinse out your conditioner with cold water to seal the hair cuticle.

Next time you wash your hair, try turning the temperature down even just a bit. Your luscious locks will thank you!
