Geelong Youth Engagement
Geelong Youth Engagement (GYE) is a Geelong based non-for profit organisation.
The organisation includes program such as the Geelong Kokoda Youth Program which has ran since 2013.
A couple of Kokoda students recently visited Belmont Rotary, GYE are grateful for the long-standing support they have provided by sponsoring two students on the trek every year. We are looking forward to coming back so the students can share their stories about their time in Kokoda.

This year's Kokoda students will be at Waurn Ponds Bunnings tomorrow, come down and warm up with a sausage and chat about the upcoming Trek.
Although its school holidays our Kokoda students were back learning very valuable First Aid knowledge from Ambulance Victoria. This can help them not only on the trek but skills that can be utilised at a workplace, school or in the community.

genU have their Winter Solstice Fair tomorrow at the Eastern Hub, call in for some great activities and supporting local vendors.
Friday evening we had the GKYP 14 Trivia Night, this was a great chance for our young people to spend some time with their mentors, family & friends outside of the weekly training.
A big thank you to The Pier for hosting us and all the businesses who contributed to the silent auction items. Well done to our mentors and volunteers who did an amazing job of putting the night together.

Where would we be without our wonderful volunteers! Celebrating Volunteer Week and all the amazing people who support GYE.
This week we had over 1,500 students attend the You Just Never Know Road Safety Program which is a live presentation held at Geelong Art Centre.
The students heard from members of Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, Justice Dept and Barwon Health medical team who talk about the consequences of risk-taking while driving.
We thank all the presenters for sharing their experience and knowledge with soon to be future drivers.
A big thank you to the team at Royal Geelong Yacht Club for teaching the students from the Spring Back Geelong Program some valuable skills out on the bay, a great way to finish off the week.
Not long now until the GYE Annual Bellarine Golf Day, we only have space for a few more teams. A great day to catch up with some friends or colleagues while also supporting the young people of Geelong.

What a week it has been at GYE! Our two Kokoda groups started their weekly training sessions where the young people and mentors got to meet each other for the first time.
Our Spring Back program has started with the students out and about each week learning about different opportunities available for their future and STRIVE is back after the school holiday break to continue the young people building confidence and resilience through many different activities.
The GYE Hub is a hive of activity with our programs now running 5 days of the week.
The annual GYE Bellarine Golf Day is coming up on Friday 10th May, get some friends together for a round of golf while also being able to hear from guest speakers over lunch and some great auction items on offer. To secure your spot please contact Sam.
