If you had a super power what would it be?

For me it would be to infect the people of the world with compassion, empathy and love. Get them to see how amazing each and every being is, uniquely. To look deeply into peoples eyes and see the being that lies within and share you with them.

Can you imagine a world where people saw people instead of opportunity. Where they saw the real being behind the eyes and how they could impact them for the betterment of both as opposed to what they can take from that being.

Lockyer cannery just weeks away from funding sign off

The man behind a highly anticipated cannery for the Lockyer Valley says he is only weeks away from signing off on vital funding.

Lockyer Valley Cannery proponent Colin Dorber said he had secured $80 million from a private Australian source to cover the cost of the land, building, equipment and start-up.

Construction of the frozen and canned goods factory on 52 acres at Withcott could begin this year, with the plant operational by March 2022.

Mr Dorber said the breakthrough after nine years of setbacks was a huge win for growers decimated by the closure of Golden Circle in 2011.

"We are in the end-stage of negotiations for the funding," he told the Gatton Star.

"By mid-June we will have the funding documents finalised and signed and we will be shovel-ready 12 weeks from when the funding is received."

Coronavirus Economic Response Package (Payments and Benefits) Alternative Decline in Turnover Test Rules 2020 27/04/2020

I have been doing my due diligence to find out how our business who were drought-affected during 2019 and 2018 will still be able to be eligible for JobKeeper payments.
I thought I would share what I have found.

Originally I was worried that this would not be taken into account. So many of us in the valley have already experienced a downturn in our business due to being in a drought-affected region. This evening during my research, I have found we are not being forgotten :)

Here is a link to the alternative eligibility document created by the government.

https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/F2020L00461

You will find within this document that there is a section for businesses that were drought-affected during the 2019 comparison period.

10. Business affected by drought or natural disaster
(1) An entity applies the alternative test under this section if:

(a) the entity conducted business or some of the business in a declared drought zone, or declared a natural disaster zone, during the relevant comparison period, and

(b) the drought or natural disaster changed the entity’s turnover.

(2) The alternative test is the entity uses the entity’s current GST turnover for the same period in the year immediately before the declaration for the purposes of the basic test in section 8 of the Rules.

There are also other alternative turnover eligibility criteria in this document.

Happy Reading

So tomorrow is Election Day and I want to say THANK YOU
I have been a little quiet the last couple of days trying to gather information and support for local businesses and residents with these daily changes.
I have missed talking to so many of you personally due to the restriction placed on us campaigning but we all know this is necessary.
I was looking forward to spending the day tomorrow travelling between booths meeting and greeting and answering questions.
What I would like to say tonight, before we hear the results, is that I have already won.
That’s right. βœ…
❀️ I have grown, facing personal challenges by entering the campaign. My personal growth is something I work on daily and this has stretched me and one thing you never lose is your learnings.
❀️ I have gained new friends and associates within the community that I may not have met.
I have gained a deeper understanding of issues within our region that I was not aware of.
❀️ I have adding to my already passionate desire to help and support my community.
❀️ I have loved hearing personally how I have helped and contributed to people within the community and I have loved hearing how I have impacted people, I don’t know, in a positive way.

πŸ™πŸ» I want to thank all of you that have supported me regardless of the outcome tomorrow. As you can see I have already won so much ❀️

Most of all stay safe and well, through all of the coming days family is most important and that our community is strong and united and we will get through this together. 😘

Now is the time. Let’s rebuild Australia’s manufacturing base. We are in end stage negotiations to fund the Cannery. What better way to start moving forward then increasing dramatically the volume of long life vegetable products, grown in Australia, packed in Australia, sustainably managed with environmentally responsible practices and an absolute commitment to the highest and safest quality foods-fresh - canned- powdered - frozen - all from Australian farms - 144 jobs year one- growing to 400 by year three in the Lockyer Valley alone.

The team at 90 Degrees Global who bring Money & You Australia/New Zealand to Australia have given me permission to share their TOP 10 TIPS FOR RIGHT NOW...

If you are in business READ THIS!!!

If you need support during these times or just need to talk give me a call.

We thought we'd share some tips that could help if you're in business or not and whether you're a Money & You Graduate or doing the program later in the year... Please feel free to forward on if you think this could be helpful for others.

Top 10 Tips for Right Now ...

Craig and I have spent the last week with more to come, delivering on complimentary strategy sessions we offered our clients and Money & You, Graduates. Together we have been working on people's business and finance strategies to see them through and thriving out the other side of this thing.

Of course, as business owners, we've also been working on our own variety of strategies and adjustments too and it's not easy but it is needed.
We do hope this helps.

Top 10 Tips for Right Now - Thriving in Turbulent Times ...

#1 Lead - Whether personally or in business, be on the front foot in communications and actions. Stand tall, as you deal with whatever you are dealing with - the world is with you and navigating all of this too. Lead your family through this, lead your team through this, lead your client/customer community through this ...

#2 Find Funding Sources - Find out what Government support is out there (e.g. do you know that there is an interest-free loan being offered by the QLD Government for $250,000? Check your State Government.) With the stimulus package announced today, there are funds available to business owners, as well as major banks offering unsecured loans for SME's during this time. For some, it will just be a matter of how quickly you can access any of that to support you. Now is the time for your accountant to go to work for you in finding out what support you can receive for business (or personal) under your State Government programs and the Federal Government Programs ... Get your accountant to go to bat for you re any offers and if needed dealing with the ATO as well (that is some of the cheapest funding out there by simply deferring payment or setting up a reduced payment plan.) This is the time they need to work for you vs being traditional historians - nope! - you must request they help you and help you right now. (We do know some great accountants if yours isn't being proactive.) Please, please make sure you are reaching out to your banks and to your accountant to get whatever support you need.

#3 Keep Marketing - If you can, don't stop marketing, keep reaching out. Some people will gain traction (and make money!) in this time while others will fade out. Stay present in people's minds. There are lots of people cashed up in the world right now and many are willing to bet on a positive future post all of this ... how can you attract, support and add value to them?

#4 Increase Frequency of Positive Communication - Be in touch more often than usual with your customers and clients and with your own team. Be positive and reassuring to customers and clients and work closely with suppliers.

#5 Negotiate - Go to your suppliers and negotiate better terms. Ask them to support you as you have supported them, create a win:win way to work together during this special period.

#6 Pause & Check - If you have a mortgage, request a 6 month pause. Also, check your interest rate options and make sure you are getting the lowest interest possible.

#7 Request - Ask your landlord for a 6 month pause i.e they may own the building or be able to ask their bank for the same 6 month pause. And while you're at it - ask for help, make requests of those around you who could support you personally or in business during this time. Most people aren't great at that at the best of times - this is not one of those times to try to figure it out all yourself.

#8 Structure & Productivity - Look at what you may have to do re team and be prepared to do it both in structure and ways of working. Again, work with your accountant to figure out what could work - e.g. if you can keep them on full time, make sure they are over-servicing your customers and get them working on your business, doing those projects no one has had time to do! If not, see if you can put some of your team on annual leave, leave without pay or part-time as needed. The government is also allowing "stand down" - i.e. they still have a job when business resumes. In terms of productivity, how can you change your model to allow working from home? Do you need a premises? Or could you use a smaller premise? Consider everything you need to and be willing to do it. Taking action is key.

#9 Offering - Look at how your business is structured and offering - what can you do right now to change that and meet a changing world? What can you do right now inside a long game of business to ensure a thriving future over the next 12 months AND the next decade and... What can you offer differently or to a different market to be of value at this time?

#10 Manage your Mind - This is potentially the biggest - do all you can to keep a positive mindset. How we view this and manage it and ourselves through this process will be THE difference that makes THE difference. When fear takes hold many of us freeze - I was in and out of that last week but I noticed that was only true until moment by moment I kept putting my attention back on those who need us ... our beautiful community and team!

Sending love,
RyllB & Craig & Your 90Degrees Team

Where I live...

A snapshot of my background and my commitment to the wonderful Lockyer Valley

I am a wife, mother of 4, volunteer and local business owner. The order I have listed these is deliberate. I am absolutely for family 100%. My adult daughters attended Peace Lutheran and moved onto local high schools including Lockyer and Faith. I also had the pleasure of home schooling during some of their school years.

My son is currently a Year 4 student at OLGC. I have been married for 25 years to my wonderful husband and best friend who offers unlimited support. I am also dedicated to our community because without a united community supporting each other this valley would not be what it is. That’s why we are unique, we are connected at the grass roots level, as it should be.

I am passionate about our region and have demonstrated that passion through years of dedication and hard work as a volunteer and business owner. I have been a volunteer for over 25 years and during that time have had contact with a multitude of community groups on many levels.
