The Town House Hughenden
The Town House Hughenden is a comfortable three bedroom cottage that sleeps up to 6 people. Close to all amenities, Swimming Pool and Lake.
Plenty of off street parking, everything you need for a short of longer stay.
The poinciana tree out the front is really showing off! It might be warming up but the aircon is lovely indoors! Coming to Hughenden for Christmas holidays? Working here for a few weeks? Send us a message and we can accomodate you! Three comfortable bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen, laundry and a cute private little outdoor seating area for a quiet cold drink in the evenings.
More pleasing details. Many of the artworks throughout the house come from the “studio” (you’d laugh if you saw it) of our very talented daughter .
It’s a little bit floral but I took away the pink pillowcases in case it was just too much for the husbands who might staying. 😂 still pleases me though.
Gorgeous weather here in the northwest Queensland winter- crisp mornings, cool evenings and mild days.
🦖🌵🌞 Discover Hughenden's iconic Darby the Dinosaur, a towering wall sculpture made from scrap metal, depicting the Muttaburrasaurus! 🤩🙌 Designed by the talented locals Sam Brown and Terry Lindsay, this amazing work of art is located on the wall outside the library in Hughenden just waiting for you to snap a selfie with it! 📸🤳 Come and explore Hughenden, where prehistoric meets modern-day adventure! 🏜️🚀
Well what do you know! It feels much longer but it’s only been 12 months; I still love this wall paper and the great job the girls did applying it!
So much history in our town, unfortunately most of the grand buildings from yesteryear have succumbed to fire. This was the Grand Hotel. It wasn’t as grand as some of the other buildings that used to exist in Hughenden though!
New rug, made sure the aircon was working ❄️and couches still comfy 😮💨 bit of a furniture shuffle and a joosh makes vacuuming a bit more interesting!
Time for a little freshen up and joosh before the busy time of the year. The table that used to be here was super handy, matched the kitchen perfectly but was made for the very petite former home owner. I found a terrific bloke on marketplace who brainstormed the design of this very solid little bench with me. Next - dining room refresh!

Exciting day! After asking nicely for ages… the fence is getting completed. I wanted to do the fancy old access gate but that’s been vetoed and at this point in time, I don’t even care! Because: fence!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Looking out the back door.. at the wheelie bin 😂… and thinking about popping a garden bench under that shady tree.
Several of of our lovely guests have commented on the art work in our little cottage. Most of it had been commissioned (by mum) and painted by our 18 year old daughter, and the pieces in the lounge room in particular are favourites. Some of her work is available at the wonderful Artisan Collective store in the Main Street of Hughenden, in the form of cards, prints, magnets etc. The store also has lots of other locally produced goods (the preserves are from a station way up in basalt north of Hughenden! Truly outback produced). You really are supporting local by visiting this little store.
It’s nearly holiday time, and Hughenden Recreational Lake is a great place to be. Paddleboard, swim, waterski, fish, BBQ . All the right ingredients for a spring day. The Lake is also a stone’s throw away from Hughenden’s free RV site, so hitch up and head out for a few days relaxing by the Lake.
We have a fully equipped kitchen here at The Town House, ready for you to whip up a hearty meal for your family. Today it’s drizzly and cool outside, but quite cosy indoors so a perfect day for eating 😉
The Main Streets have changed a bit over the past 100 odd years… but are still the same width and location! Posted • With not one traffic light in town and big wide open streets, you won’t have to worry about parking or congestion in Hughenden

If you thought the country was a place where nothing happened… you’d be wrong. Last weekend, the cream of the stock horse world were in town, this weekend: the regions top young (and not so young!) athletes play Rugby. Fast and furious and enthusiastic! It’s a fabulous day out. On from 8am - 6pm at the Hughenden Showgrounds, with celebrations, commiserations and music to follow.
The colander might have gone AWOL 🧐🤪 but our art work changes to match our bedding 😆 it’s all in the details! (Who needs to drain pasta anyhow ?)
It took me awhile, but I found what I was seeking - this retro arm chair that throws to the provenance of this cosy old house! And bonus: It’s verrrrry comfortable !
Impromptu quick linen change for the back bedroom, bright and cheery after a few very cold wet days! Ready to welcome the next guests.
So cosy!!
fluffy towels and fresh sheets…
We love a good review…and fabulous guests who leave everything immaculately tidy 💕🧼🧹
Sunday morning at the Town House - the lake is the place to be this morning with Lions running their breakfast van (delicious) and the sun is shining. A lovely time to . And some fresh wattle blooms from our cattle station!
More clear crisp days and big skies. Perfect time to
Fresh threads and a good dash of the old favourite pine-o’clean for incoming guests
One of the things you must do when you is to visit Mt Walker. 360 degrees of views- pick you favourite. The road up to the lookout is exciting in itself, my sons idea of riding up for his bike riding training was rapidly cancelled! 😂
