100 years of BBYO and we cannot wait to celebrate!

Join us as we enjoy a communal Shabbat Dinner, celebrate the traditions that have endured through the century and hold our very first inductions for members of BBYO Sydney. You don’t want to miss this truly once in a century event!

We are counting down the days till we as BBYO Sydney get to celebrate! We would love to see you at our Shabbat Dinner on 24 May from 7:00PM - 9:00PM to celebrate the enduring traditions of BBYO and hold BBYO Sydney’s first-ever chapter inductions.


If you would like to attend a Shabbat service close by, there are two shuls in walking distance:

1. 6pm Ayelet HaShachar at 7 St Mary’s Avenue.

2. 5.30pm Central Synagogue at 15 Bon Accord Ave.

Come and join BBYO Sydney for a Mitzvah day project; “BBYO CLOTHES SWAP”!!! 👕 👔 👚 You are invited to bring clothes to swap with others as a way of showing spirit and encouraging sustainability. Try bring as many unwanted clothes as possible to swap with someone else. This event will be held on Sunday the 5th of November from 11am-12:30pm. Today we celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israeli Independence Day! This year we are celebrating 64 years since David Ben Gurion signed the Declaration of Independence in 1948. Yom Ha’atmaut Sameach! 🇮🇱

Today we remember the sacrifice of the fallen soldiers of IDF and remember all live lost due to terror in Israel. We will continue to honour and reflect on the lives of those who made sacrifices on service to their country 🇮🇱

Today we remember those who lost their lives in one of the darkest periods in human history. We commemorate more than six million Jews that were murdered in the Holocaust. May we always remember them.

BBYO NSW has had an incredible 2021 and is so grateful for everyone who has helped make it possible! We want to look back at this phenomenal year before we jump into the new year.

We started off the year with a Havdalah, as part of our IC 2021 local experience. We all enjoyed playing games, eating delicious food, sitting around the fire, and welcoming in the new week together. We then ran a highly successful laser tag event, where we all enjoyed the opportunity to meet new people and participate in a fun and competitive game of laser tag. Although the onset of the 2021 lockdown, meant that we had to change many of our plans for term 3, we were lucky enough to run many successful events over zoom, including a shortbread bake, wordle competition, escape room, virtual scavenger hunt, meme mission and pizza and mug cake bake. At the beginning of term 4, BBYO NSW took the opportunity to run our first ever chapter meeting, which allowed our regular participants to have the chance to learn more about BBYO and give us as the board feedback on what they wanted to see at future events. Luckily with the end of lockdown, we were able to run our first in person event for 6 months, an incredible movie night at the B’nai B’rith centre. All participants enjoyed being back with their friends and watching a movie together. From there, we ran an incredible family shabbat dinner, which allowed the whole family to learn more about BBYO and connect with other BBYO families.

BBYO wants to take this opportunity to thank Anna Marks OAM, Janine Zimbler, Jenny Mandel and  everyone behind the scenes at B’nai B’rith who help to make BBYO NSW possible. We want to say a big thank you to everyone on board this year, for the countless hours they have put in helping to make all of our events possible. We want to say thank you to everyone who has participated in our events for their support throughout the year. Most of all we want to extend our deepest gratitude to Vivienne Radomsky who helps make BBYO NSW possible every single day, without her BBYO NSW would not survive.

We are so excited for an even bigger and better 2022!
