Ending $7 billion of renewable subsidies saves an average $840 every household every year.

Stop government over-regulating the power industry and allow private energy providers to produce all types of energy, including nuclear power.

Modern nuclear power has been found the safest and the cleanest, with a lower carbon footprint than renewables and no external environmental pollution, unlike all other forms of energy production including renewables. It is cost-competitive.

Its use ends the climate wars.

Nuclear power means reliability, efficiency, safety and affordable electricity prices again.

With your tax payer dollars, school spending from Labor’s Gonski plan, went up 40%, over the last ten years, but results dropped dramatically.

In READING ABILITY, our children were second best in the world, just eighteen years ago

Now reading ability has dropped by a full academic year.
Even worse, 40% of students tested failed to reach minimum reading standards.
Down to sixteenth place in the world now, despite all your tax dollars.

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱.

Administration staff numbers have gone up 100%, teachers by 33% while student numbers have increased just 20%.

Our local GP after-hours access service has for decades provided excellent care for patients in trouble, needing help straight away, seven nights a week and weekends, and instant advice with free phone calls. Staffed by our experienced local GPs and dedicated nurses, it also relieves stress on local hospitals.

Government has slashed their funding, with one clinic forced to close, and the remaining three having to slash their hours.

Next time you’re in trouble and can’t be seen by the after-hours service, or even worse, when your family member remains longer in a stressed hospital emergency waiting room, crying in pain, or stuck longer, distressed in an ambulance bay, remember who is to blame.

Let the area health service CEO, Mr DiRienzo know how you feel, with an email, before your own family has to suffer.

Let the Liberals suffer instead, when you vote.

𝗟𝗘𝗧'𝗦 𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗘𝗟𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗧 𝗕𝗬𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗦!

The “safe seat syndrome” (editorial Newcastle Herald, 14/4/22) appears apt for the Shortland electorate when the Government allocated $268 million for the Muswellbrook bypass in the contested Hunter seat (Michael Parris, NH,14.4.22).

The old Main Roads department plans for a Belmont bypass to rid our community of the Belmont traffic bottleneck in the Shortland “safe seat” hasn’t been dusted off since it was first drawn up 70 years ago.

It’s time for voters to make Shortland an “unsafe seat” and force the Labor member and Liberal candidate to back my call for building the Belmont Bypass.

This problem has been staring them in the face for years.

By 2030, the Lower Hunter population will grow by 25% compared to 2011 (Phillip O’Neill, Newcastle Herald, 28.03.22), while “addressing pinch points is almost the only substantial plan that the state government has for improving the road network of Greater Newcastle – ever” (referring to the Greater Newcastle transport plan up to the year 2056!). With “a new traffic signal here, a no-right-turn sign there and, maybe, throwing caution to the wind, some widening” (Bradley Perrett, Newcastle Herald, 09.08.21).

The new Newcastle Bypass section being completed now bypasses 11 traffic lights and gives up to 80% time reduction in peak times according to Andrew Constance.

The Belmont Bypass I am advocating for will bypass at least 13 traffic lights and connect the Newcastle Bypass to the Pacific Highway, south of Belmont near the airport.

𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝘆𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀!
