Castor oil 💛

Castor oil is a vegetable oil pressed from castor beans 🫘

My experience with castor began as a child.
When visiting our Gran’s I had to line up with my brothers for a dose (spoonful) of castor oil 🤢because of its laxative effects 😂

Castor oil has some amazing properties. It contains ricinoleic acid, a fatty acid that comprises about 90% of the oil.
Other properties include:
Contains antioxidants
Has antibacterial properties
Has moisturising and soothing properties which all benefit the skin

And I recently learnt that castor oil is great for your eyelashes 😉

Olive oil is the most commonly used vegetable oil and forms a large percentage of the oils we use in our soaps

It’s been the longest time since we’ve done an education piece on the ingredients we use in our soap, so let’s take a look at some of our key ingredients 💛

Cocoa has been used in medicine for around 3,000 years. It was a favorite ingredient of the ancient Aztecs and Mayans, who even used cocoa for currency.

Cocoa butter is high in fatty acids, which is why it's often touted for its ability to hydrate and nourish the skin and improve elasticity. The fat in cocoa butter forms a protective barrier over skin to hold in moisture. Cocoa butter is also rich in natural plant compounds called phytochemicals.

Even better, we source our Cocoa Butter from Ghana where woman harvest and produce the cocoa butter by hand
