Linking people to the right supports, services and options is what we do.
We help people to learn how to make the most out of their NDIS plan and navigate Government services
# #🚨🚨 Trigger Warning 🚨 🚨 # #
⚠️ Rant Ahead ⚠️
When insurers misbehave, most people have rights or alternatives. But for those relying on the NDIS, alternatives don’t exist.
Senator Pauline Hanson, the NDIA, and Minister Shorten are playing politics, attempting to mislead the Australian public with rhetoric and controversy to push a poor attempt at an amendment that discounts human rights in preference for what looks like soviet style autocracy.
Recently, they have labeled urgent requests, such as approving wheelchair repair quotes, as "plan top-up requests," adding these valid needs to a government "waste clock" on Shorten’s website. They're trying to deflect legitimate responsibilities as rorts.
Many people wait 6-12 months or longer for essential items like prosthetic legs or wheelchairs. Government errors or delays often require repeated submissions of requests, documents, and costly reports. This wasteful administration not only causes anguish but also costs providers billions, pushing many into debt or bankruptcy just to keep people alive when the government fails to care.
If your comprehensive car insurance took 6 months to approve a repair or your home insurance took a year to replace belongings, you’d switch insurers or at least hold them accountable through a regulator or ombudsman. But for us, there are no alternatives, no voice. We’re being bullied into giving up our rights in a political game led by those with no regard for the broader impact of their actions.
The proposed legislation does little to address the underlying issues or the current crisis. It merely shifts costs and blame. Using carefully leaked stories and overgeneralizations bordering on defamation, Pauline Hanson, Mr. Shorten, and NDIA Fraud boss Jon Dardo are demonizing legitimate pleas for support from vulnerable Australians, including children. This is a massive effort to benefit their career and cover up corruption and waste within the NDIA.
Politically, the easy option is to create scapegoats and avoid addressing deeper systemic issues. Opting for quick fixes to cut costs and responsibility is like a parent refusing to pay child support while divorcing the disability community.
Bill’s bill is rushed, incomplete, and potentially dangerous. It doesn’t fix the broken system. Instead, it assumes guilt over innocence, using algorithms to support raising debts and fines against participants and providers without clear guidelines or safeguards. It demands personal information and invasive assessments, aiming to shift the burden back to already struggling hospitals, schools, and families, increasing the likelihood of neglect and isolation.
Despite our hopes for meaningful co-design, Bill knows best and ignores our offers to help make the NDIS sustainable, accountable, and transparent, ensuring taxpayers' investment in our lives continues to have a significant impact.
People should not be left to die while bureaucrats argue their way out of work.
👉If you have had enough of politicians half doing a job, costly quick fixes, lies and false promises, please share, or even copy this text and post it on your page, or text it to a friend.
🤝Together we can hold them accountable.

Kate can walk but often uses a wheelchair to get around. Here's why Ambulatory wheelchair users are relatively common but say they often face judgement and accusations they're faking their disabilities. This is what they want you to know.

Michael McCormack MP today passionately introduced parliament today to the realities of experiences of NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme participants and the NDIS and shared some of the views of our founder Mark Pietsch. It was a very lively day in the House of Representatives today for the Disability Community.

Well said WIN News Illawarra and Nina Crumpton. On Wednesday Mark Pietsch attended a Community Morning tea with Bill Shorten, the NDIS National Disability Insurance Scheme leadership team and the NDIS Commissioner. There has been a lot of discussion around Bill’s Bill, to change the NDIS. There are some positive changes, but still some things that need further discussion with the disability community and the sector before any changes can be agreed to.
Here’s your tip.
Embrace your unique self. Opinions and thoughts don’t define you. Dare to dream of the world you want to live in, then work backwards with small daily steps to head in the right direction.
It’s difficult to embrace the unknown in life, though in all the best adventures, what scares you, it’s the same build up and anticipation that drives a heroes journey, leading people to come together and collectively eagerly await the next page and chapter, sharing hope for a brighter future.
Inclusion….. Priceless 🙌

I am a Social Work student studying at the University of Wollongong currently at Ability Links to gain experience working with and supporting people with a disability. It has been interesting learning about the structure of the NDIS and how it is implemented to help people with a disability. Outside of my placement at Ability Links, I am obsessed with my Poodle cross puppy Charlie and spending qulity time with family and my partner.

👏👏👏👏👏 Yes to this!
Locals can now book beach wheelchairs that can be taken into the surf for FREE during patrol hours.
There are currently four accessible beaches in the Wollongong Local Government Area: Austinmer, North Wollongong, Port Kembla, and Thirroul.
Wollongong City Council’s Acting Operations Manager Beach Services Murray Copas says the beach wheelchairs are a relatively new accessible feature, and they build on the work Council has been doing over the years, which includes upgrading toilets and providing accessible parking.
