Inspired by a Linked in post by Eliza Howard I thought we should all share our stories and images of working while we are new mothers, second time mothers, struggling mothers, working mothers.

Inspired by a post on Linked In this morning by Elisha Howard that shows a realistic representation of a working mother.

It is a raw image of her on the laptop nursing her 3rd child.

There will be some who shame her, others who will troll her, some will be offended by breastfeeding, others upset she is not solely focussed on her baby.
There will be those that tell her she is lucky she can nurse and work form home while others lament the separation they faced as their job was not one allowing them to work form home.

There will be those that are saddened by her being able to be a mother and those that are angry she can breastfeed, women will use it as a platform that their stay at home status is a choice and they should be paid, there will be others who find working abhorrent in motherhood.

Mothers wearing badges of honour, or regret or shame or pride will comment.

Then there will be men who will give their two cents worth.

I want us women to share our experience of mothering while working. I ,of course, have my own stories to share but no images as my babies are 19 and 15 now and nobody took photos of me nursing and working or pumping and working or crying and working leaking breastmilk through my work shirt.

Would we work if we were paid to mother?
Would we see a difference in women's post partum recovery if more women were given more flexible work times.
Would we see a healthier generation of mothers if we support the fact that mothering in itself is hard work let alone mothering and working.

Thanks Eliza for opening up a conversation and a chance for women to share
